Football Bet of the Day: 5/4 for goals in Friday’s Eredivisie clash

Your football fix can be provided in may ways on Friday with a Premier League clash between AFC Bournemouth vs Fulham on offer, while Wrexham host Birmingham City in the Championship. There are also games taking place in Ligue 1, Serie A and the Bundesliga, so we are not short of options. 

For my Football Bet of the Day, though, I am turning my attention to the Netherlands as NAC Breda host Groningen in the Eredivisie (19:00 BST), and this looks to be an interesting encounter. Check out my selection below.

NAC Breda vs FC Groningen Odds

NAC Breda have won just two of their seven league games this term but they have won of their previous two home clashes with the visitors. They are 7/4 to come out on top on Friday night.

Groningen have won three of their past four fixtures heading into Friday and they are 13/8 to come away with the victory. Three of the previous five meetings have ended level, with the draw valued at 23/10.

But for my Football Bet of the Day I am steering away from the match result, instead focusing on goals. I like the look of the both teams to score and over 2.5 goals market because these sides have been involved in quite a few entertaining games this season, as well as in recent years when they have faced one another.

This term, NAC Breda have experienced BTTS in 57% (4/7) of their matches, including two of their three home encounters against Fortuna Sittard and Heracles.

For Groningen, this has been a successful bet in 43% (3/7) of their league games thus far, including two of their three away trips. And the recent history between these two clubs suggests we can expect goals at both ends of the pitch.

Both teams have found the net in nine of the last 11 Eredivisie meetings, including each of the previous four. So this evidence suggests we should have no issues with either side getting on the scoresheet in this contest.

Over 2.5 goals is the second part of the bet and this may be tougher to get over the line. However, this has been a common theme for the hosts so far in 2025/26, with 71% (5/7) of their matches producing at least three goals - with this being a winning selection in each of their past three outings in the top flight.

Groningen head here having been involved in four league games in which over 2.5 goals has struck, but none have been in their last three appearances. The visitors have mostly been defensively tight in those games, winning two of them to nil while losing 1-0 in the other.

Their first four matches weren't short of goals though, with 18 scored in total between them and their respective opponents.

Against NAC Breda, over 2.5 goals has struck in five of the last nine Eredivisie meetings, with two coming in the previous four.
