Football bet of the day

Friday night’s football takes us back to the King Power, where Leicester City’s relegation was confirmed against Hull City.

The downed Foxes are in action again on Friday, live on Sky Sports Main Event (20:00 BST), as they welcome a Millwall side with promotion in their sights.

Leicester vs Millwall Odds

Millwall’s promotion push continued on Tuesday night as they recorded a comfortable 3-1 win over a miserable Stoke City side, a result that took them onto 79 points.

Ipswich responded in their own fashion with a narrow 2-1 success at Charlton to take them back on terms with the Lions, although they do boast a better goal difference and that all-important game in hand.

With already-relegated Leicester and set-to-be-relegated Oxford as their final two fixtures, you would expect Millwall to take six points - which might just be enough to get them over the line and into second spot behind Coventry.

It’s a position Alex Neil could have only dreamt of at the start of the campaign, but his squad now look laser-focused as they attempt to get over the line. Tristan Crama and Femi Azeez have been the standouts, but Neil has built a squad that is competitive in every game it plays - and will be tough to beat even if they end up in the play-offs.

Neil has a promotion on his CV from his days at Norwich and Millwall fans absolutely love the guy, which makes sense when you look at what he has achieved so far. For all the positivity surrounding Millwall so far, the complete opposite is true for Leicester.

Football Bet of the Day Stats

  • Leicester were relegated to League 1 on Tuesday
  • Millwall have won their last two games by a two-goal margin

Relegation was confirmed on Tuesday night after a 2-2 draw with Hull City, a side who are trying to finish in the top six and could potentially meet Millwall in the play-offs. The empty seats told their own story, as did the boos that welcomed Harry Winks as he was substituted onto the pitch, as the former Spurs man had a spat with Leicester fans after the defeat at Portsmouth.

Gary Rowett looks set to leave the club at the end of the season and so some big decisions lie ahead for not only the players, but the senior board members at the club. A rebuild is needed, but I can’t see these players turning up to compete with Millwall - I mean they haven’t dug in all season.

Just comparing these two teams, there is a world of difference between the levels of the two squads right now, with Leicester 37 points behind the Lions in the table. As a result, I’m going to back Millwall to get the job done on Friday night, and I’ll add a -1 handicap to boost our odds to 21/10.

They’ve won their last two games by a two-goal margin, and I expect them to be professional again on Friday night, playing in front of a backdrop of frustration and anger from the Leicester fans.
