Football Bet of the Day: More home comforts for the Hatters’ top scorer

Stockport County will look to solidify their position inside the League 1 play-offs when they host AFC Wimbledon at Edgeley Park on Saturday (15:00 GMT, Sky Sports+). The Hatters have just one win from their previous five fixtures but four of them were away from home. 

It is at Edgeley Park where they are at their strongest and they will hope this will continue against the Dons. I have picked out my Football Bet of the Day from this clash, which you will find below, alongside the odds available at Betfred.

Stockport vs AFC Wimbledon Odds

Stockport are instilled as the 8/13 favourites to win, and they have six wins from their previous seven home league games.

The draw is on offer at 3/1, with both teams experiencing stalemates in their last League 1 outings. AFC Wimbledon are 4/1 to collect the three points, which they have managed on six away trips to date in the third tier.

Both teams have scored in each of Stockport's past four fixtures in the league and it is marked at 5/6 to strike on this occasion.

Stockport are in a good position for another crack at the play-offs, having fallen at the semi-final stage against Leyton Orient last year. The Hatters will need their attackers to finish the regular campaign strongly so that they are primed for the end-of-season eliminator should they qualify.

The good news is that they boast one of the most prolific goalscorers in the division in Kyle Wootton, who has 18 goals to his name so far. He has already bettered his total from 2024/25 by six, and he is expected to surpass the 20-goal mark before term concludes.

The former Notts County man also has an added motivation to keep up his goalscoring exploits, as he is firmly in the race for the Golden Boot.

Wootton is three goals shy of the division's leading marksman, Dom Ballard (Orient), at the time of writing, but the former's proficiency at Edgeley Park may give him the edge (you're welcome) heading into their final 11 matches.

This is because the 29-year-old has scored in each of his previous three league appearances in SK3, scoring five goals in the process. Against a Wimbledon side who have managed just one win from their past seven away trips in the third tier, I think Wootton is worth backing to have another enjoyable afternoon on home soil.
