Football Bet of the Day: Resurgent Town can go five in a row

We’ve got lots of football coming our way on Friday night, from the Premier League, EFL Championship and all across Europe.
However, for Friday’s Football Bet of the Day we are heading down to League 2, where I think there is value to be had.
Football Bet of the Day - Friday, February 27
- Harrogate Town (H) to beat Cheltenham Town @ 13/8
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
Harrogate Town lost six games in a row in January and are currently in the relegation zone in League 2, sitting 23rd having lost 20 of their 34 matches this term. Backing them to win on Friday night as they host Cheltenham Town (19:45 GMT), may seem slightly strange, but Simon Weaver has managed to breathe new life into their survival bid recently.
A strong January window saw them strengthen their ranks with the likes of defenders Chanse Headman and Cathal Heffernan, while Aiden Marsh signed on a deal until the end of the season and QPR winger Emmerson Sutton came in on loan.
That added depth and competition looks to have sorted them out from a defensive standpoint, and although they remain in relegation danger, recent results should give them renewed belief. Harrogate are unbeaten in their last four outings, beating second-placed Cambridge United and relegation rivals Barrow, and drawing against promotion-chasing Chesterfield and league leaders Bromley.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Harrogate are unbeaten in their last four games, having played the top two in that time
- Cheltenham haven't won in five away games
That run of fixtures against the top two, Barrow and seventh-placed Chesterfield could have destroyed their hopes - but instead they have taken eight points and now they only sit one point away from safety. The longest serving manager in English football has been given time once again, and that trust looks like it could pay off.
The 0-0 draw against table-topping Bromley wasn’t a lucky result either, they won the xG battle 1.13 to 0.41 and should have taken all three points with seven shots on target to the visitors’ zero.
Cheltenham are the next team to come to town, and they sit 19th, nine points clear of their hosts. The Robins aren’t anything special this term, but they did beat 10-man Salford at the weekend. They’ve struggled to perform on the road, and are winless in five away from home, so I would suggest that the home side are far more likely to win this game - despite the odds suggesting both teams have the same chance of winning.
My Football Bet of the Day is Harrogate Town to beat Cheltenham Town at 13/8.
