Football Bet of the Day: Goals to flow in League 2 clash

As we gear up for the final international break of the 2025/26 season, there is still some domestic action to take place on Tuesday in the EFL. One of the League 2 games on offer sees two in-form sides go head-to-head as Oldham Athletic host Notts County at Boundary Park (19:45 GMT, Sky Sports+).

Oldham vs Notts County Odds

Oldham are 8/5 to make it five league wins on the spin.

The Latics have drawn 13 matches this term and the stalemate here is on offer at 23/10.

Notts County are 13/8 to come away with the three points.

Matthew Dennis is the visitors' top scorer in the league with 14 goals and he is 2/1 to strike anytime on Tuesday.

Dennis could have a starring role to play in my Bet of the Day, which is focused on the number of goals scored in the game. I have gone for over 3.5 goals on Tuesday because these two teams are in fine form and I believe they are set to provide plenty of entertainment.

Goals have been coming easily for Notts County this term as they are the second-highest scorers in the division with 65. Boss Martin Paterson is helped by having two prolific forwards in his ranks in Dennis and Alassana Jatta, with the latter having scored 12 goals in the fourth tier so far.

Oldham haven't scored quite as many goals (44) as their opponents but the Latics have scored three times on six occasions in League 2 this term.

There have been at least four goals scored in each of Notts County's past three outings in League 2 heading into Tuesday, while this was also a winning selection in the reverse fixture at Meadow Lane back in October - which the Magpies won 3-1.

This is a big match for both sides as it can aid them in their own respective quests for promotion. Oldham are nine games unbeaten in the fourth tier and they have won seven of their previous eight. The Latics are currently four points off the pace in the play-off race but can move to within one point of the top seven with a win against the visitors.

County are currently two points behind Cambridge United, who occupy the third automatic promotion spot. Cambridge are in action on Tuesday as well. They host seventh-place Grimsby, so Notts will be hoping for a favour from the Mariners while they look to do what is needed of them in Oldham.

As we enter the final stretch of the season, neither team can afford to slip up here, so I am expecting both sets of attackers to rise to the occasion.
