Blackburn vs Preston Odds

I don’t think this game will contain loads of goals but I see that as an opportunity to back a first goalscorer at a big price. Michael O’Neill will have been delighted to see his new side run away with three points from Loftus Road at the weekend, even though he didn’t have a full week of training with the side - it is good to get off to a winning start.

Preston are a decent outfit this term, unbeaten in their last three and they sit on the fringes of the play-offs, so they could go and get a result at Ewood Park, but I rightly or wrongly am expecting a slight drop-off from them over the last 14 games.

Paul Heckingbottom is a great manager and has done a terrific job at Preston this term, but I don’t think this squad will crack the top six. On Friday night, this Lancashire derby should be a great battle, but I think we will see a continuation of the incisive and clinical Blackburn side we saw at Loftus Road.

Football Bet of the Day Stats

  • Mathias Jorgensen scored twice against QPR
  • Michael O'Neill won his first game in charge of Rovers

Ryoya Morishita was on fire on the right wing and provided a sensational assist for Mathias Jorgensen in the first half. He then followed that up with the third goal, scoring a header from close range. However, I want to back Jorgensen, Blackburn’s Great Dane, to continue his new-found goalscoring form.

His two finishes at QPR were absolutely sensational playing as the second striker behind Andri Gudjohnsen. With the Icelandic forward taking the attention of the centre-backs with his runs, it left gaps for Jorgensen to exploit and I think he can do that against Preston’s back three.

PNE conceded twice against Watford last time out, and although I’m not guaranteeing a Blackburn win here, I do feel Jorgensen is the dangerman. He’s been moved around under the different managerial staff since arriving in January, but now looks set to feature again in a natural number 10 role - where he can get shots off on goal.

With three goals so far, I’m expecting more big things from the Dane - and the price on him to open the scoring on Friday night is massive.
