Football bet of the day

After landing a winner in Saturday's Football Bet of the Day, I am hoping to start the new week strongly on Monday with another successful selection. I am drawn to the evening's La Liga action which sees Sevilla and Celta Vigo collide at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium (20:o0 GMT, Premier Sports 1).

Check out my latest Football Bet of the Day below.

Sevilla vs Celta Vigo Odds

Sevilla have the third-worst home record in the division with 10 points from nine matches. They were beaten 3-0 at home last time out against Levante, who are in the bottom three.

Celta Vigo have drawn three of their eight away trips in the top flight and the stalemate is priced at 21/10.

Ten of the previous 12 league meetings between the two clubs has seen both teams get on the scoresheet and BTTS - Yes is available at 4/5 on this occasion.

But for my Bet of the Day, I think the real value lies in an away win, with Celta Vigo marketed at 15/8 (implied probability of 34.8%) to come away with the three points. The visitors have the fourth-best away record in the league, with four wins from eight and just one defeat on their travels.

There may just be six points between the two sides coming into this clash, but Celta are in a much healthier state than their hosts. The Sky Blues have won three of their past four outings in La Liga, which includes a 2-0 victory at Real Madrid in early December.

Celta have prevailed in four of their last five away trips in the top flight and so they should be confident heading to Seville, as Sevilla have one of the worst home records in the division.

Football Bet of the Day Stats

  • Celta Vigo have the fourth-best away record in La Liga
  • They have won four of their last five away trips in the league
  • Sevilla have the third-worst home record in the division

Celta have a lot of momentum behind them heading into this and it should serve them well against a side who are on a two-game losing streak in La Liga. The latest one against Levante was concerning because they conceded three goals at home, who had only won two matches prior to that contest.

The visitors have also had the better of this fixture in recent meetings, having won two of the past three head-to-head clashes. Additionally, with just one defeat on the road, Celta are a force to be reckoned with, and this match is not ideal for a team who are struggling to get going inside their own stadium.

One win in five is not ideal for a club of Sevilla's stature and the Levante defeat is likely to have rung some alarm bells. The Blanquirrojos would be expected to suffer another loss here but they are in need of a response after successive defeats.

But because of Celta's sterling away record, I cannot see them having any joy on Monday night. The Sky Blues are well-disciplined on their travels and they are in a good run of form at the moment and I think it will continue here.
