Football Bet of the Day: Boro to storm to away win

Sunday’s football action covers the FA Cup, in England and Scotland and plenty of games from across the continent.
However, I’m turning my attention to a crucial game in the Championship, as Middlesbrough look to continue their promotion push in the capital, as they travel to face QPR (16:30 GMT, Sky Sports Main Event).
Football Bet of the Day - Sunday, March 8
- Middlesbrough to win with -1 handicap @ 13/5

Having seen Millwall and Coventry win on Saturday, the pressure is once again on Middlesbrough as they play last of the promotion contenders for the second consecutive week. On Monday night, Kim Hellberg’s men rose to the challenge as they ended a run of three games without a win at St Andrew’s.
The 3-1 away win saw Hellberg change Boro to a back five, and left wing-back Matt Targett ran riot as he scored twice in a fantastic away performance. They look to be back on track now and should have plenty of confidence as they head to the capital to face QPR.
I think Hellberg will be able to mastermind another away win here, while I’ve also been massively impressed with some of the football they have played this term. The run of six wins in a row saw them crash into the top two and they remain there after Ipswich failed to beat Leicester on Saturday.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Boro beat Birmingham 3-1 away from home last time out
- QPR have lost three of their last four games
- QPR have failed to score in their last two
That may have relieved some of the pressure in terms of the race for the top two on Boro, and maybe now they can make it their own. They travel to a QPR outfit that has fallen away from the play-off picture and now sit 16th in the league, having lost three of their last four games.
They’ve not scored in their last two games, losing 2-0 to Sheffield United and 5-0 to Southampton, and up against another elite outfit in the Championship, I can foresee another pretty heavy defeat.
QPR have struggled with injuries this season but right now Julian Stephen seems unable to get the best of their attacking talent, which includes the likes of Richard Kone and Koki Saito. They only managed one shot on target as a team against Sheff Utd, and I think Boro might just put in an away performance that makes them believe second place is there for the taking.
