Football Bet of the Day: Strikers to take centre stage in cup tie

I’m really looking forward to the Wrexham vs Chelsea FA Cup clash, which comes our way at 17:45 on Saturday, live on TNT Sports 1. 

The Championship side are hoping to take another Premier League scalp having already knocked out Nottingham Forest this season. Read on for my Football Bet of the Day.

Wrexham vs Chelsea Odds

I’m focussing on the strikers to get amongst the action in north Wales, with both Kieffer Moore and Liam Delap set to play big roles in this FA Cup Fifth Round clash. I think this will be a proper battle and a really entertaining cup tie, so I was to steer away from backing a match result, given Wrexham are strong at home and might just upset the Premier League side here. 

Alternatively, Chelsea’s class could quickly become apparent, so for that reason I’m opting out of predicting a match result, although I do think we will see plenty of goals. Let’s start by discussing Moore. He’s absolutely crucial to this Wrexham side and will lead the line again as the target man in a 3-4-2-1 formation. 

Moore is a unit of a man, and he’s scored an impressive 13 goals in all competitions this season so will fancy himself for another goal here, but this Price Boost doesn’t require him to score. Instead he needs to get just one shot on target and commit two or more fouls. 

The numbers suggest this could happen for the Welshman. He’s had 26 shots on target this season in the Championship at an average of 0.96 per 90, but he is averaging 2.52 total shots per match. Meanwhile, he’s an aggressive striker who has picked up five yellows this term, and average 1.72 fouls against per 90, ranking him in the 89th percentile for Championship players.

He’s going to have to rough this Chelsea defence up if the hosts are to get anything, while I also think Liam Delap could find himself in a tussle at the other end. Wrexham’s three centre-backs are all aggressive and given Delap is likely to start this cup clash, I think he will be busy. 

He’s averaging 1.27 shots on target per 90, while he is also averaging 1.96 fouls committed per match as well, taking him very close to the number we need to make this bet land. I think both strikers could be at the centre of the action in a scrappy and entertaining cup tie. 

If that’s the case, this Price Boost looks extremely appealing.
