Football bet of the day

Stockport County have a three-point cushion inside the League 1 play-offs. The Hatters sit fifth and have two games in hand over Reading in sixth. Stockport kick off their Easter weekend with a home clash against Wycombe Wanderers at Edgeley Park on Friday (15:00 BST, Sky Sports+).

It is from this clash that I have picked out my Football Bet of the Day. I am expecting a cracking contest and you can check out my selection below.

Football Bet of the Day - Saturday, April 4

  • Bet Builder - Kyle Wootton & Cauley Woodrow to score @ 6/1

Stockport vs Wycombe Odds

Seven wins in their last eight home games in the third tier makes Stockport an attractive bet to win at 6/5.

Wycombe are 21/10 to stun their hosts and the Chairboys have two victories from their previous three outings in League 1.

The draw is marketed at 5/2, and this has been the outcome on nine occasions for Stockport this term.

But it's the goalscorer market that draws my attention for Friday's Bet of the Day, having experienced success with it in Stockport's victory against AFC Wimbledon last week.

Kyle Wootton was my pick to score for last Saturday's column and I am inclined to keep faith with the Hatters' front man. However, on this occasion I am picking an additional goalscorer in the form of Wycombe's Cauley Woodrow.

Both strikers are in good form coming into Friday's clash. Wootton has found the net in each of his past four home league appearances, scoring six goals in that time. The former Notts County man is breathing down the neck of Leyton Orient's Dom Ballard, who is the division's leading marksman with 21 goals.

Football Bet of the Day Stats

  • Kyle Wootton has scored 6 goals in his last 4 League 1 appearances at Edgeley Park
  • Wootton was on the scoresheet in August's reverse fixture
  • Cauley Woodrow has 3 goals in his past 4 league outings for Wycombe

Wootton has scored 19 so far and in his current mood, I think he can continue to apply pressure on Ballard in the race for the Golden Boot.

Wycombe's Woodrow may not be having quite the prolific season that his counterpart is having, but he has still managed to net eight goals for the Chairboys in the third tier, with three of them coming across his previous four appearances.

The visitors are just two points outside the play-off places, so they will be fired up for this contest. A victory may move them into the top-six and Woodrow's contributions in recent weeks have helped the Chairboys close in on the play-offs.

At 6/1, I think both players are worth backing to get on the scoresheet in SK3.
