Football Bet of the Day: Back Jatta to extend his scoring streak

Notts County are in an excellent run of form as they bid to gain promotion from League 2 this season. The Magpies have won four matches on the spin and up next for them is a home clash at Meadow Lane as Gillingham pay a visit on Tuesday (19:45 GMT, Sky Sports+).

Notts County vs Gillingham Odds

Notts County are the 4/5 favourites to win this game, having won each of their previous four outings in League 2.

The two teams have drawn 13 matches between them in the fourth tier in 2025/26, and the stalemate is on offer at 12/5.

Gillingham won the reverse fixture back in September, and they are 16/5 to complete the double over their hosts.

County are on a hot streak and so is one of their star players. Forward Alassana Jatta has scored in each of the last four league games for his side, and now he sits on 12 goals for the campaign, joint-fourth in the standings alongside his fellow striker Matthew Dennis.

Both players have been performing well this season, but Jatta is the one I am focusing on against Gillingham because he is brimming with confidence at the moment.

I think there is value to be had in backing the Gambian attacker to score anytime for the fifth consecutive fixture in the fourth tier.

It's his best run of form of the season so far, and it looks to have come at the right time because Notts County sit just one point outside the automatic promotion places, and a victory at home to Gillingham on Tuesday night would see them move up to second and within five points of league leaders Bromley.

After County lost a valuable amount of goals from David McGoldrick, Jatta's former striking partner, in the summer, Jatta has since stepped up, but he has also been aided by Dennis, who joined at the start of the season.

Notts County have been trying to gain promotion to League 1 for a couple of years now, and it does seem like things are starting to come together for them now. The Magpies are one of the form sides in the division, and they will look to claim another valuable three points on Tuesday; I am expecting Jatta to once again play a pivotal role in making that happen.

The frontman bagged 19 goals in League 2 last term in his first full season in the East Midlands. He is currently a goal shy of where he was at this stage last year, but he didn't go on a scoring streak like this in 2024/25.

In his current mood, he could be on course to surpass his tally from the previous campaign, and I fancy him to take one step closer to accomplishing that against an inconsistent Gillingham side.
