Football Bet of the Day: Arsenal fancied to keep on winning

We’ve got some intriguing football action coming our way tonight (Wednesday), with the Women’s Champions League quarter-finals taking centre stage.
Bayern Munich face Manchester United in the early kick-off, but my attention turns to Chelsea vs Arsenal (20:00 GMT, BBC Two) for my Football Bet of the Day - with the Gunners holding a 3-1 lead after the first leg.
Football Bet of the Day - Wednesday, April 1
- Arsenal to beat Chelsea @ 15/8
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
Arsenal put in a superb display at the Emirates last week as goals from Stina Blackstenius, Chloe Kelly and Alessia Russo gave them a massive advantage heading into this crucial second leg at Stamford Bridge.
Sonia Bompastor will be targeting an epic comeback against the current Champions League holders, while Arsenal will be holding out hope that they can repeat their shock European triumph. A place in the semi-finals is the reward for winning this tie, with Lyon or Wolfsburg lying in wait in the final four.
The game state for this quarter-final is worth considering, given Arsenal can afford to lose this game by a one-goal margin and still qualify, but I don’t think it counteracts what we are currently seeing from Renee Slegers’ side.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Arsenal have won their last 11 matches
- Arsenal hold a 3-1 lead from the first leg
- Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the WSL
Arsenal have now won 11 games in a row in all competitions, which is their longest winning run since they were victorious in 12 consecutive matches back in 2019. More to the point, they have done extremely well against Chelsea this term, beating them 2-0 away in the league and obviously winning the first leg of this tie 3-1 - while the WSL meeting in November ended 1-1.
11 wins in a row is sensational stuff, and Slegers team are hitting form at the right time, even though it seems like Manchester City have a decent lead in the WSL title race. The Gunners do have two games in hand on the rivals though, remain in the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage and are favourites to progress in this tie.
However, they aren’t favourites to win this game on the night, with Chelsea installed as the 11/10 favs. Given I think Arsenal are the better team right now, I think there is value to be had in backing them to win this one outright.
In their last three games, the Blues have drawn 1-1 with London City Lionessses, lost to Arsenal 3-1 and beaten Aston Villa 4-3, although they did look shaky at the back despite their victory.
As a result for Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day, I’m going to put forward another Arsenal win in 90 minutes here - as the defending champions look to defend their crown.
