Football Bet of the Day: Yamal to continue goalscoring form

International football returns on Thursday and it’s left us with plenty of action to digest, as we search the globe for value. We have plenty of World Cup qualifiers to look forward to, and one of the favourites to lift the trophy in the United States of America, Spain, are in action against Bulgaria.
Below you can find Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day.
Football Bet Of The Day - Wednesday, September 3
- Lamine Yamal to score anytime vs Bulgaria @ 21/20
Spain are for me, the best international football team around right now, and they are rightfully priced up as the 5/1 favourites to lift the biggest trophy in world football in 2026.
Winning the World Cup would cap off the perfect start to life as the senior boss for Luis de la Fuente, who guided Spain to Euros glory in 2022. With an astonishing crop of young players, he has proven to be the perfect man for the job since stepping up from the U21s, and that cohesiveness is a key factor to consider moving forward.
They should have won the Nations League this summer as well, but lost narrowly to Portgual on penalties in the final, but the progression has been clear and obvious. They are yet to kick off their qualification campaign due to their progress in that competition, but Turkey, Georgia and Thursday’s opponents Bulgaria shouldn't provide them with too much of a test.
Bulgaria haven’t won any of their last five matches, losing 4-0 to Greece last time out and being defeated 5-0 by Northern Ireland in the Nations League last year. That gives you some idea of the level they are at, so I’m expecting a massive away win for Spain.
Football Bet Of The Day Stats
- Lamine Yamal has scored two goals in three La Liga matches this season
- Bulgaria conceded four goals to Greece in their last outing
But instead of backing the handicap, which I don’t think offers that much value - I’m going to pick out an anytime goalscorer. Ousmane Dembele is rightfully going to win the upcoming Ballon d’Or due to PSG’s magnificent 2024/25 season, but Lamine Yamal is right up there in the conversation for the best player on the planet.
Remarkably, he’s already scored two goals and bagged three assists in just three La Liga matches for Barcelona this term, having scored 18 goals in 55 in all competitions for the club last season. Now 18, it feels as though he could make another step forward and truly establish himself as the best player on the planet.
Spain are set to rely on him heavily once again, and they will want to get up and running with a big win. The fact we are getting above EVS on Yamal to score at any time against Bulgaria, when Spain should hit four goals or more, is massive value and something I’ll put up as Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day
