Football Bet of the Day: Parisiens to rule supreme in Munich

After months of world-class action, the Uefa Champions League comes to a close on Saturday, and either Paris Saint-Germain or Inter Milan will get their hands on the trophy. The teams will meet at the Allianz Arena in Munich, with PSG chasing their maiden success in the competition, while Inter will hope to raise Europe’s premier club prize for a fourth time.

The 2025 Champions League Final, which is due to start at 20:00 and is available on TNT Sports 1, TNT Sports Ultimate and discovery+, features in my Football Bet of the Day for Saturday, May 31.

Inter fared better in the new league phase of the competition, finishing fourth behind Liverpool, Barcelona and Arsenal.

PSG finished 15th after a poor start, but Luis Enrique's team have found their rhythm and they look primed to go all the way this weekend.

Les Parisiens head into the final on the back of four successive wins, including their 3-0 success over Reims, which saw them win the Coupe de France last week. Enrique's side won the Ligue 1 title with ease and weeks to spare, so a treble is a distinct possibility if they can maintain their recent form.

Inter will be no pushovers, though, as Simone Inzaghi's side are unbeaten in six games in all competitions, and they have continued to silence their doubters all season.

While they fell short in their quest for the Serie A title, Inter have fought their way into Europe’s showpiece contest for the second time in three years.

The Italian giants beat Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate in the semi-finals, while they just edged Bayern Munich 4-3 in the quarter-finals.

Inter will be happy to sit and absorb pressure before launching counter-attacks, and those plans have worked well so far in Europe this season for the Nerazzurri. 

However, there has been an element of fortune to their success. Inter have lost on shots on target, shots, and expected goals in each of their last four Champions League games, and there is a sense that their luck may well just run out in this final.

PSG outclassed compatriots Brest before eliminating Premier League champions Liverpool as well as Aston Villa and Arsenal in the knockout stages to secure their spot in Munich, and they have dominated for large spells in each of those eight games.

The French champions have scored two or more goals in eight of their last 11 ties in Europe, and they have the quality they need in the final third to outscore Inter's spirited squad.

Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have led the line with style this season, combining to score 10 goals and grab six assists in PSG's European campaign.

Inter may score and make things interesting, but all signs point to PSG ending their wait for Champions League glory.
