Football Bet of the Day: No way out for strugglers

Friday night football is few and far between, so once again I’ve turned my attention to the Paraguayan Primera Divison. 

Club Nacional host bottom-club Club General Caballero (20:00 BST) and I think there is value to be had in this crunch clash for our Football Bet of the Day.

Club Nacional have now lost just one of their last seven matches stretching across the end of the Apertura season and the start of the Clausara. We are now three games into the second season of 2025 in Paraguay, with Nacional remaining undefeated, with two wins and one draw from three since the summer break. 

They’ve proven themselves to be an incredibly solid outfit, and their defensive record speaks for itself. They’ve only conceded once so far this term, and last time out they beat the current champions Libertad 1-0 away from home. That gives me full belief that they will be able to get another win on the board in front of their own fans, especially when we take into account the team they are coming up against. 

Club Nacional vs Club General Caballero Odds

Club General Caballero have had a stinky start to the Clausura campaign, losing three from three to leave themselves bottom of the table early on. They’ve only managed to score one goal in those matches and their winless run has now extended to seven matches in the league. 

I’m concerned about their hopes of staying off the bottom of the table based upon what we have seen so far from the club based in Doctor Juan Leon Mallorquin. They don’t appear to be able to create many chances, managing just one shot on target last time out, and I don't think that is a quick fix. 

Today's Football Fixtures

Given Nacional beat them twice last season, 1-0 and 4-2, I don’t believe the home side will have any trouble brushing them aside once again on Friday night. In fact, I think we are getting good value if we back them to win and keep a clean sheet - given they’ve been pretty solid at the back, and General Caballero are struggling to score.
