Bolton Wanderers (H) to beat AFC Wimbledon (15:00 BST, Sky Sports+) @ 4/7

Bolton finished eighth in League 1 last season, two places and 10 points off the final play-off spot, and they've made a mixed start to the current campaign, picking up seven points from six games.

The Trotters lost their opening game at Stockport County (2-0) before beating Plymouth Argyle at home by the same scoreline, but they've drawn their last four 1-1 in the third tier.

Football Odds

Still, Steven Schumacher's side remain unbeaten at home, also beating fellow League 1 club Rotherham United 1-0 at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday.

On Saturday, they host recently-promoted AFC Wimbledon, who are two points and two places above them in the table. However, the visitors have lost their last three matches in all competitions, albeit only one was in League 1, and have lost twice on their league travels this term - at Luton Town (1-0) and Bradford City (3-2).

Bolton should have enough in the locker to get out of their stalemate run and send the Dons back down south without a point.

Huddersfield Town (H) to beat Peterborough United (15:00 BST, Sky Sports+) @ 8/15

Another of the third-tier's heavyweights, Huddersfield, host Peterborough at the Accu Stadium on Saturday. Like the Trotters, the Terries were disappointed by their 10th-place finish last season, but they've made a strong start to the 2025/26 campaign, winning four of their first six league games.

Lee Grant's charges have won all three home matches without conceding a goal, beating Leyton Orient 3-0, Doncaster Rovers 2-0, and Stevenage 1-0. Even Championship title contenders Leicester City, only relegated from the Premier League earlier this year, were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at Town's home last month.

Today's Football Fixtures

Bottom-of-the-table Peterborough are the latest team to try their luck at the Accu Stadium, but after picking up just a solitary point from their first six league games this season, it feels unlikely that Darren Ferguson's side will be able to take anything from this weekend's trip to West Yorkshire.

United have lost all three away matches so far, shipping seven goals and scoring just once - from the penalty spot against Cardiff City (2-1).

Portugal (A) to Win to Nil vs Armenia (17:00 BST, Amazon Prime Video) @ 8/13

Portugal begin their World Cup qualification campaign on Saturday with a trip to the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan, where they take on Group F rivals Armenia.

This year's Uefa Nations League winners, Portugal, have been terrific since exiting Euro 2024 on penalties to France last summer, losing just one of their 10 matches since, and that was a 1-0 first-leg play-off defeat to Denmark, which they overturned.

Keeping clean sheets has been an issue - Roberto Martinez's men haven't recorded a single shutout in their last six - but A Selecao should fancy their chances of collecting one against Armenia, who have failed to score in three of their last six games, and four of their last eight.

Havakakan have struck twice in their last two internationals, but they were friendlies against Kosovo (lost 5-2) and Montenegro (drew 2-2), hardly footballing nations of Portugal's calibre.

Austria (H) to Win to Nil vs Cyprus (19:45 BST) @ 4/9

Austria have won their first two qualifiers, beating Romania (H) 2-1 on June 7 before thrashing San Marino (A) 4-0 three days later.

Cyrus, meanwhile, beat San Marino (H) 2-0 in their first Group H encounter, but then lost 2-1 (A) to Bosnia & Herzegovina and 2-0 to Romania (A).

The Cypriots failed to get on the scoresheet in Bucharest, and they may well fail to do so again at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz on Saturday.

Austria have only kept four clean sheets since the start of 2024, but Ralf Rangnick's charges should back themselves to claim a fifth this weekend against a nation that blanked in half (three) of their six Nations League (League C) games last year.

Republic of Ireland (H) vs Hungary - Both Teams to Score (19:45 BST, Amazon Prime Video) @ 10/11

Ireland and Hungary make up the other half of Group F, and these two nations face off at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday, with both looking to begin their qualification campaigns on a positive note.

Portugal are big favourites to win the group, but there's a two-way race for second place between Ireland and Hungary.

Ireland failed to score in a goalless friendly in Luxembourg last time out, but back in Dublin, where they drew 1-1 with Senegal in June, they'll be confident of avoiding back-to-back blanks, particularly as their opponents, Hungary, are six games without a clean sheet.

The Magyars have scored in three of their last five, though, and were on target the last time these two countries met, at the Aviva Stadium in June last year. Ireland won that friendly 2-1, but only thanks to a breakaway injury-time strike from Troy Parrott.

Both teams to score landed in Ireland's first three games this calendar year, and could be worth backing in what looks set to be a competitive contest in Dublin on Saturday.
