Football Accumulator Tips: Cross-European 3/1 Weekend Treble

No back-to-back winners but here’s one last chance to end the year in profit as we head to Rome, Porto and…Motherwell.

Football Accumulator Tips - Cross-European Treble
Welcome to the 3-3-3 betting column. Why is it called that? Glad you asked. It's not a formation to play when you've had a man sent off but rather:
- 3 - The number of different selections making up the acca.
- 3 - The number of different (non-English) European Leagues the selections are taken from every week.
- 3 - The minimum odds (3/1) or 4.0 if you prefer, that the acca will come to it every week.
And it really is as simple as that. The selections can be from any betting markets, as long as they meet the criteria set out above. And to round things off, every week I'll leave you with a cool (or at least I think so) bit of trivia involving one of the teams featured in the acca. Simples...
Current P and L: -0.02pts
No joy last time round and in all honesty, we weren't particularly close, so I'll spare you the details behind the manner of our failure!
A few less leagues in action this weekend means we need to resort to playing a league we wouldn't normally get involved in- the Scottish Premiership- but for what it's worth, there's a decent bet there. Which is precisely what I'm going to talk you through as part of out final 3-3-3 column of the year, which is now marginally, marginally in the red. But hopefully not for long.
Lazio v Atalanta
Saturday, December 28 19:45
Selection: Back over 2.5 goals @ 4/5
The Serie A table has quite an unusual look to it with Atalanta top, Napoli second, Inter third and Lazio fourth. It's a stark contrast to the days when the likes of Juventus and AC Milan were always right up there but things change in football and Atalanta, with 11 straight wins in Serie A, are nothing if not deserving of leading the pack with that sort of record.
Instinctively, a price of 6/4 looks pretty tasty on Atalanta to beat Lazio, but the latter are in a rich vein of form themselves, with eight wins out of their last 11 including five wins in a row, of which three were in the league, one in Europe and one in the Cup. So, they deserve some respect. A view backed up by the fact that Atalanta only won here in one of their last three visits, two years ago, the other two games resulting in a Lazio win last year and a 0-0 draw three years ago.
But as we know, Atalanta aren't just a team to back to win; they're a team to be involved in over 2.5 goals games.
They're 7/8 at home and 5/9 away for overs games while, wait for it, Lazio have seen ALL of their home games this season have at least three goals in them. Yes, that's eight matches in a row that have cleared the over 2.5 goals barrier.
A stat that's impossible to ignore and one that makes you think 4/5 is a pretty decent price.
FC Porto v Boavista
Saturday, December 28 20:30
Selection: Porto (to be winning) Half Time Result @ 2/5
These two are only a couple of miles apart in distance but they're much further apart than that in the league, Porto bang in the title race with 37 points, the same as Sporting and just one behind Benfica.
Bovista are down in 16th with just 12 points and are in a proper relegation scrap, the only good news being that the likes of Rio Ave in 11th are just four points better off.
So, whereas they may yet beat the drop, they're unlikely to get anything from this one. Porto have won 11 of their 12 home matches this season and have a good record against this lot, winning all of the last three. They've made a good habit of going into the break with a lead of late and can do the same again here at a far better price than the straight win.
Motherwell v Rangers
Sunday, December 29 15:00
Selection: Rangers to win and over 2.5 goals @ 9/10
It's not often that we venture over to the Scottish Premiership but needs must. And by that, I mean I need to include a third selection as ever for the 3-3-3 column but we're a little limited, sorry, very limited, in terms of what's on this weekend.
So, Motherwell v Rangers it is. Rangers suffered an upset last week at St Mirren, going 2-1 down to an injury-time goal to pretty much end their title challenge for good. It was a poor result for them because they'd been in good form up to then, including being good value for a 1-1 draw with Spurs a couple of weeks ago, picking up a fine 3-3 draw at Celtic and winning three in a row in the league before that.
Motherwell are fresh from a 4-0 loss at Celtic but what we do also note is that their recent games have had plenty of goals in them, such as a 4-3 win over Dundee Utd and a 4-1 loss at the 'the other Dundee'.
Since 2021/22, Rangers have beaten Motherwell six times out of six away from home and five of those games had over 2.5 goals in them, so the away win/overs double is clearly the way to go.

James' Fun Fact
Boavista are only one of five clubs to have won the Portuguese top division, managing it just once, back in 2000-01. The others are Belenenses (also just one win), Benfica, Sporting Libson and Porto. Obviously.
