Match Result - Machida Zelvia (H) to beat Gamba Osaka (11:00 BST) @ 7/10

The first of our four matches comes from the Machida GION Stadium, where Machida Zelvia host Gamba Osaka in the J1 League.

Zelvia, who were promoted to the top tier of Japanese football in 2023 after winning the J2 League, finished third last year and have enjoyed a terrific first 26 games of the current season, claiming 46 points to sit fourth heading into Wednesday's contest.

They're currently on a 10-game win streak across all competitions, with seven of those victories coming in the league, where they haven't conceded since June 21, keeping five consecutive clean sheets.

Football Odds

Gamba Osaka, on the other hand, are 12th in the 20-team standings and appear highly unlikely to match last season's fourth-place finish, when they finished level on points with Zelvia.

The Nerazzurri have lost their two league matches this month, suffering a 3-0 home defeat to Fagiano Okayama on August 10 before going down 1-0 at Hiroshima six days later.

Gamba have only won one of their last seven away matches in all competitions, losing two of their last three, and another defeat on their travels looks likely in midweek.

Match Result - Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (H) to beat Gangwon FC (11:00 BST) @ 4/6

Staying in East Asia, Jeonbuk and Gangwon will contest the first leg of their Korean Cup semi-final tie at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on Wednesday.

Jeonbuk, who won five consecutive K League 1 titles between 2017 and 2021, endured a rough 2024, finishing 10th in the 12-team table, but have roared back to life this year.

After 26 games played, Jeonbuk are 17 points clear at the top, and could clinch the title before the end of August.

Today's Football Fixtures

Meanwhile, Gangwon are eighth, 28 points behind Gus Poyet's side, and head into this cup tie without a win in their last five games. They've failed to score in their last two, which have both ended goalless.

The contrast with Jeonbuk couldn't be much greater, as Wednesday's hosts have won their last seven in all competitions, keeping three clean sheets.

Jeonbuk lost their first head-to-head of the season at home in March (0-1), but beat Gangwon 3-0 in Chuncheon in June before exacting their revenge on home soil last month, securing a 2-0 win. They last won this trophy in 2022 and will be desperate to get their hands on it again.

I'm backing Jeonbuk to take a lead to next Tuesday's second leg at the Chuncheon Songam Stadium.

Match Result - Beijing Guoan (H) to beat Yunnan Yukun (12:35 BST) @ 8/13

We complete our East Asian trip in China, with another cup tie, this time between Beijing Guoan and Yunnan Yukun. This Chinese FA Cup semi-final will be decided on the day, though, with no return fixture.

Beijing will enjoy home advantage at the Workers' Stadium, where they beat Yunnan Yukun 2-1 on June 30 in the Chinese Super League, just over four months after overcoming the same opposition 2-0 at the Yuxi Plateau Sports Centre Stadium in Yuxi.

Yunnan Yuki, who were promoted to the top tier of Chinese football last season after lifting the Jia League title, have enjoyed a solid season so far, but are 16 points behind Wednesday's hosts, who are third and only two points off top spot.

Beijing's home form has been terrific this year, with seven victories from 10 games, albeit they have failed to win any of their last two, but both have been against top-six sides, Tianjin Jinmen Tiger (2-2) and Shanghai Shenhua (1-3).

Yunnan Yukun have lost their last three away matches, starting with that 2-1 defeat in Beijing before losing 3-1 at Zhejiang Professional and 5-1 at Qingdao Hainiu, and their cup run looks likely to end on Wednesday.

To Win to Nil - Celtic (H) to Win to Nil vs FC Kairat Almaty (20:00 BST, TNT Sports 1) @ 4/6

Celtic have been handed a kind draw in the Uefa Champions League play-offs, with Kazakhstani club Kairat Almaty expected to suffer in this week's first leg at Celtic Park in Glasgow.

Kairat overcame Olimpija Ljubljana (3-1), KuPS (3-2) and Slovan Bratislava (1-1, p) in the qualifying rounds to set up this two-legged tie with the Scottish giants, but it was their home form that carried them through.

They drew 1-1 with Olimpija in Slovenia, but were beaten 2-0 by KuPS in Finland, and 1-0 by Slovan in Slovakia.

Celtic won three of their four league phase games in the Champions League last season, keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory over Young Boys, and Bayern Munich were indebted to the world-class talents of Harry Kane and Michael Olise for their two goals in a 2-1 knockout phase play-off win in Glasgow earlier this year.

The Bhoys started this term with back-to-back shutouts in wins over St Mirren (1-0) and Aberdeen (0-2), and they look poised to record a third clean sheet in four at home to Kairat on Wednesday.
