Spain to beat France (H) @ 7/5

The reigning European champions Spain collide with the 2018 World Cup winners France in Germany in the Nations League on Thursday for a place in the final.

Spain were pushed all the way against the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, having drawn both legs against De Oranje. La Roja required penalties to book their place in the semi-finals but I'm still confident that they can get past France in much smoother fashion.

In 13 of their last 17 outings, Spain have prevailed inside 90 minutes, and I think this is what will happen against Les Bleus on Thursday. France are not the same team who frightened on the world stage and their 2-0 loss in the first leg of their quarter-final battle with Croatia highlights their fall from the top.

Spain look to be entering another fruitful period on the international stage and some are claiming we could witness them dominate like they did between 2008-12. They have exciting attacking players, such as teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, and I believe they can send France crashing out of this semi-final.

Draw - Botafogo vs Ceara @ 12/5

In Brazil's top flight, Botafogo welcome Ceara to Olimpico Nilton Santos with the two sides sat ninth and 10th respectively after 10 matches. They have both acquired 15 points to date with identical records (W4, D3, D3), while they have both scored 11 goals each.

The hosts have a better defensive record with just five goals conceded to Ceara's eight but the two teams are hard to separate coming into this clash. The visitors were beaten on their last appearance at home to Atletico Mineiro, while Botafogo have won three of their past five league games.

With little to separate the two clubs based on their positions in the table, I think backing a draw could be a smart play, especially as the previous four meetings at Olimpico Nilton Santos have ended in a stalemate.

Draw - Australia vs Japan @ 21/10

AFC World Cup qualifiers are also taking place on Thursday and one of the more interesting clashes from the third round sees Australia host Japan in Perth. The Socceroos are second behind the visitors in Group C and will look to close the gap to four points with a victory.

Tony Popovic's side have won two games on the spin ahead of their second meeting with Japan, and they do look in good shape. The Samurai Blue have won three of their past four fixtures and so they too head into this contest in good form.

I don't think there's much to separate the two teams. Japan have clearly been more consistent in Group C than their hosts but they will be in for a tough test in Perth, and the Aussies will be up for the challenge. I fancy this game to end in a draw, which was the outcome in the reverse fixture in Saitama back in October.

South Korea to beat Iraq (A) @ 23/20

South Korea sit three points clear at the top of Group B but their form has hit a bump of late. They have experienced three consecutive defeats and they cannot afford to drop too many points with two games left to play.

They travel to Basra International Stadium to face Iraq on Thursday, with the hosts one point behind Jordan, who would currently qualify directly for next year's World Cup finals in second spot.

This is a bigger match for the hosts but South Korea cannot afford to get complacent this close to the finish line. Yes, they have had a habit of drawing matches lately but I think they can get back to winning ways (which should do the job for their qualification) against a team they beat 3-2 the last time they met.

Iraq's form has been far too inconsistent to be worth backing here, in my opinion.
