With Europa League qualifiers, Conference League qualifiers and a Women’s European Championship quarter-final all heading our way on Thursday, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to our Football Accumulator Tips. 

Below you can find my selection for Thursday, July 17 as we look to bag a winner.

Sweden vs England - Over 2.5 goals

This quarter-final should be one for the ages as defending champions England take on an improving Sweden outfit. The Swedes went three for three in their group, even smashing Germany 4-1 to secure top spot, and they will fancy their chances of causing England some problems. 

With Stina Blackstenius up top they pose a massive goal threat, and England will have to be at their best to progress here. But after an early defeat to France, the Lionesses have bounced back in style, scoring 10 goals in their last two outings as they dismantled the Netherlands and Wales. 

I don’t want to call who may go through from this tie, even though England won the 2022 semi-final 4-0 v Sweden, so instead I will just back plenty of goals with all this attacking talent on show. Unleash the beasts Sarina Wiegman!

Shakhtar Donetsk to beat Ilves 

Not quite as exciting as a European Championship quarter-final, but Shakhtar Donetsk are back in action against Finnish outfit Ilves. ‘Finished, they nae finished they only 28?’ - no but seriously, they are completely dead in this tie having been battered 6-0 by the Ukrainian giants in the first leg. 

The gap between these two teams is seismic and even though Shakhtar are likely to rotate, they’ve got plenty of quality in their squad to be able to dismantle the Finns, who are some way off being able to compete at this level. Tough draw for the team with the best badge in world football - trust me.

Sheriff Tiraspol to beat Prishtina 

Prishtina play in the top tier of Kosovan football, but they only finished sixth in the table out of 10 teams, so they are an incredibly weak side for this Europa League qualifying round. They made it into the tournament by winning the Kosovan Cup, but they have been unfortunately paired with Sheriff Tiraspol here. 

Sheriff Tiraspol had been the dominant force of Moldovan football but they surprisingly lost their title to Milsami Orhei last season, forcing them into the Europa League rather than the Champions League. Having said that, they hammered Prishtina 4-0 in the first leg and should have zero trouble in beating them again on Thursday.

Cliftonville to beat St Joseph’s 

It’s Northern Ireland v Gibraltar for this second-leg clash in the Conference League, and it’s finely poised at 2-2 after the first leg. Cliftonville did well to bag a point having been reduced to 10 men on the 55th minute, and even led twice before Alvaro Rey converted two penalties for the hosts. 

Despite Jack Keaney’s suspension, it means the NIFL Premiership outfit are in a good position to qualify for the second round, and they will fancy their chances against St Joseph’s on home soil. St Joseph’s finished level on points with Gibraltan champions Lincoln Red Imps but lost the title on goal difference - but I believe Cliftonville can edge this one.
