Switzerland vs Sweden Prediction: Another win for the Swiss

Switzerland and Sweden face each other in a Uefa World Cup qualifier from Group B in Geneva on Saturday (19:45 GMT). The hosts are top of the table with 10 points while the visitors have mustered just one point so far.
Their poor form saw Jon Dahl Tomasson replaced by Graham Potter, who takes charge of his first fixture here. Read on for my Switzerland vs Sweden predictions, alongside the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Switzerland will be without the services of influential midfielder Remo Freuler, who is sidelined after undergoing surgery for a fractured collarbone.
Michel Aebischer is back in the squad after missing the last two matches with an adductor injury, so he may start this clash.
The defensive line is expected to feature Manuel Akanji, Nico Elvedi, Silvan Widmer, and Ricardo Rodríguez, while captain Granit Xhaka should anchor the midfield, having started the season brilliantly with Sunderland
Dan Ndoye, Breel Embolo, and Ruben Vargas are likely to make up the front three.
Potter’s first Sweden squad has already seen Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres miss out due to a hamstring injury, while Liverpool forward Alexander Isak has been included after recently overcoming a groin problem.
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Lucas Bergvall returns after suffering concussion, while Anthony Elanga and Roony Bardghji have been called up.
Yasin Ayari, Jesper Karlstrom, and Hugo Larsson are also part of this month's camp as Potter's tenure truly begins.
Switzerland vs Sweden Predicted Lineups
- Switzerland: Kobel; Widmer, Elvedi, Akanji, Rodriguez; Aebischer, Xhaka, Rieder; Ndoye, Embolo, Vargas
- Sweden: Johansson; Lagerbielke, Hien, Lindelof; Elanga, Bergvall, Ayari, Svensson, Gudmundsson; Isak, Bardghji
Switzerland have won three of their four qualifiers to date and they are 4/7 (implied probability of 63.6%) to beat Sweden for the second time.
Their other result was a draw with Slovenia and the stalemate is priced at 16/5.
Sweden are yet to win in Group B and they are 9/2 to collect the three points.
Under 2.5 goals has been a successful bet in four of Sweden's past six games and it is valued at 6/5 on Saturday.
Switzerland vs Sweden Stats
- Switzerland have won three of their four qualifiers
- They beat Sweden 2-0 in the reverse fixture
Match Result - Switzerland @ 4/7
Potter has a personal history with Sweden as this is the country where his coaching journey began. He has his work cut out to try and change the Blagult's fortunes around. Their chances of reaching the 2026 World Cup are slim with just one point in four matches, and I can't see them getting any joy in Geneva against group leaders Switzerland.
The hosts have been very good in qualifying. The Swiss are unbeaten so far, winning three of their four games so far, including a 2-0 win in Sweden last month, with Xhaka and Johan Manzambi the goalscorers on the day.
Murat Yakin's men can take a giant step closer towards next summer's finals with a win, which based on how they have fared in this qualifying campaign I am confident they will come out on top here.

Under 2.5 Goals @ 6/5
The real value looks to lie in backing under 2.5 goals here. This was a winning selection when the two sides met in Solna last month. For Switzerland, this has been a successful bet in their last two outings in Group B, with their last appearance being a goalless draw with Slovenia.
Under 2.5 goals has also landed in four of Sweden's past six games across all competitions, including three of their four World Cup qualifiers. I am backing this trend to continue on Saturday when these two sides collide in Geneva.
