Saturday's matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup start over on the West Coast for a midday kick-off local time (8pm BST, ITV1) in Santa Clara for Qatar against Switzerland. Granit Xhaka 1+ Shots on Target

We’ll start with the player who was probably the signing of the season in the Premier League. The Swiss captain had an incredible campaign at Sunderland and showed that sometimes a bit of nous and experience can be gold.

He’s been a mainstay of the national team since 2011 and will be earning his 146th cap tonight in their opener at the 2026 World Cup.

Shots on Target wise, he’s been in good form for his country throughout their qualifying campaign and has achieved at least one on the last four occasions he’s played the full 90 minutes. With the Swiss expected to be on top, I like his chances to keep that run going.

Breel Embolo 2+ Shots on Target

This selection has a lot of similarities to above. The Ligue 1 striker enjoyed a good qualification campaign for his country, scoring four times in six matches.

For us and this Bet Builder though, what jumped out was his ratio of Shots on Targets to Shots. He had 13 attempts on goal and nine of them were hitting the back of the net without goalkeeping intervention. That is really rather good.

With the Swiss heavy favourites, they should create plenty of chances and I like the odds of him having at least two SoT should he start after arriving late following a visa issue.

Zeki Amdouni 4+ Shots

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder seemed to come into his own with a fruitful loan to Benfica in the 24/25 season. With seven goals and six assists from 24 league matches for the Portuguese giants, that was a real step-up compared to some lacklustre campaigns for Burnley.

He cemented his spot in the Swiss starting XI throughout the Nations League and had six shots in the home match against Spain in that tournament plus seven when Serbia played Switzerland at the Stadion Letzigrund.

An ACL tear saw him miss most of the past season but he’s fully fit and primed to be a key man for Switzerland this summer. I like him to pepper the Qatari goal.

Almoez Ali to score anytime

To really boost this price, why not a punt on the all-time leading scorer for the Qatar national team to find the back of the net?

Ali scored 12 times in qualifying, which was the most in the AFC section, two more than Mehdi Taremi of Iran and Son Heung-min of South Korea.

He missed a large swathe of the past season due to a leg injury but is fit and with 60 international goals to his name at just 29 years of age, that 11/2 price for him to score tonight is a huge one that really bumps up this Bet Builder.
