The Netherlands have had a perfect start to their Fifa World Cup qualifying campaign, winning their opening two fixtures in Group G. They first secured a 2-0 win in Finland before thrashing Malta 8-0 on home soil, with both games taking place in June.

They will look to keep their rhythm going when they host Poland at Stadion Feijenoord on Thursday (19:45 BST, Prime Video). Below you will find my Netherlands vs Poland predictions, supported by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

The Netherlands are missing exciting full-back Jeremie Frimpong because of a hamstring injury but they still have the attack-minded Denzel Dumfries to patrol the right side of their back line.

Forward Memphis Depay is chasing history in this contest, as he needs just one goal to become the Netherlands' all-time leading men's goalscorer, ahead of Robin van Persie.

He's set to lead the line in Rotterdam as he bids to write his name into the history books. Cody Gakpo and Xavi Simons are likely to flank the Corinthians striker, while Ryan Gravenberch may feature in a midfield alongside Tijjani Reijnders and Frenkie de Jong.

Netherlands vs Poland Stats

  • The Netherlands have won their first two WC qualifiers
  • They have scored three-plus goals in three of their last six matches
  • Memphis Depay (NED) has four goals in his last three international appearances

Poland have their all-time top scorer, Robert Lewandowski back following Michal Probierz's departure as head coach, but a muscular issue means he is lacking match fitness heading into this international camp.

The Barcelona man has just 26 minutes of La Liga football under his belt this season, so he may not be in from the off on Thursday. Karol Swiderski, Adam Buksa and Krzysztof Piatek are alternative options up top if new boss Jan Urban wants fresher legs.

The Eagles normally adopted a 3-5-2 shape under Probierz, but Urban tended to favour a four-man defence during his latest managerial gig with Gornik Zabrze, either a 4-3-3 or the traditional 4-4-2.

Netherlands vs Poland Odds

The Netherlands are 1/4 favourites to win this clash and they have won half (10) of the 20 meetings between the two teams across all competitions. The Dutch's previous two victories in qualifying saw them keep a clean sheet. They are 9/10, which has an implied probability of 52.9%, to win to nil.

Seven of their head-to-heads have ended in a stalemate and the draw is marketed at 5/1.

Poland have won three of their past four matches heading into this clash, and they are 11/1 to pull off an upset in Rotterdam.

Over 2.5 Netherlands goals @ 6/5

There isn't much value to be had in covering a straight win for the hosts, so value is going to have to be found elsewhere. Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman is blessed with quality across all areas of the pitch and he has plenty of depth when it comes to his attacking options.

De Oranje usually have no issues in finding the net when they play, and sometimes they experience a lot of joy in front of goal. They fired eight goals past Malta in their latest appearance, in which there were six different players on the scoresheet.

Additionally, in three of their last six matches in all competitions, the Dutch have scored at least three goals and I think we could see this trend continue against Poland. The Netherlands are the home side and are stronger than their opponents in every department.

They can rely on several players to come up with the goods as they have no issues creating opportunities from set-pieces or open play.

Memphis Depay anytime goalscorer @ 1/1

Depay will be desperate to register the landmark goal that he is after, and he has had this record in his sights for some time. He's the favourite to find the net in this match but rightly so given his record for his country.

The attacker has been in great form for the Netherlands of late, scoring four goals in his last three appearances. EVS seems like good value for him to find the net in this clash given the circumstances, and it helps that he is De Oranje's first-choice penalty taker.

If the Netherlands are at their free-flowing best, though, he should be provided with enough opportunities to score without having to step up from 12 yards - but it is a helping factor.
