Montenegro vs Faroe Islands Prediction: Home comforts key for the Brave Falcons

Montenegro will look to build on Saturday's 3-1 success over Gibraltar when they face the Faroe Islands in their second 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Stadion Kraj Bistrice on Tuesday night (19:45 KO, Viaplay International YouTube). 

Robert Prosinecki's side had to come from behind to register the victory on home soil and they will be eager to keep the momentum going against the Faroe Islands, who fell to a 2-1 defeat to the Czech Republic last time out.

Montenegro suffered no new injuries from their win over Gibraltar and are expected to name the same starting XI. 

Preston North End striker Milutin Osmajic remains sidelined with the injury issue that forced him to miss Tuesday's win in Niksic. 

Jovetic, who is just three caps away from becoming Montenegro's all-time appearance maker, should once again take up his role in the number 10 position. 

Faroe Islands boss Eyoun Klakstein is likely to be without right-back Jann Benjaminsen after he suffered an injury after just 39 minutes against the Czech Republic, with Joannes Danielsen expected to replace him in the starting XI.

Montenegro have impressed in their last two home games, winning 3-1 against Turkey in their final Nations League game and then overcoming Gibraltar by the same scoreline. 

Considering Turkey's standing in Europe, that is a noteworthy result and they should have too much firepower for the Faroe Islands. 

While Montenegro have lost seven of their last nine games in all competitions, they came against the likes of Belgium, Georgia, Iceland and Wales, who are all better equipped on the international stage. 

However, the Brave Falcons have won six of their last nine matches at home and the Faroe Islands will struggle to break them down on their travels. 

The visitors have won only three of their previous 26 games in all competitions and have lost six of their last seven away assignments.

What they lack in firepower, they make up with defensive organisation and their rigid 5-4-1 formation is set to give Montenegro a few issues. 

The Faroe Islands have conceded more than one goal in just two of their last eight matches, with under 2.5 goals landing in six of those contests. 

Before Montenegro recorded back-to-back 3-1 victories, seven of their nine fixtures beforehand featured less than three goals.
