Jordan
Nizar Al Rashdan scored a famous goal for Jordan against Algeria, but they couldn’t hold on for a point as they lost 2-1. He will start in midfield again with Noor Al-Rawabdeh, with Jamal Sellami set to set his team up in the usual 5-4-1 formation.Â
Rennes striker Mousa Tamari will lead the line once again, while Mohannad Abu Taha and captain Ehsan Haddad set to play as wing-backs. Mahmoud Al Mardi and Ali Iyad Olwan are likely to play supporting roles to the number nine, while at the other end of the pitch Yazeed Yazeed Abulaila is going to be trusted to keep this Argentina side at bay.Â
Argentina
Lionel Scaloni has some big decisions to make ahead of this final group game. Argentina are guaranteed to finish top, so you’d think resting the star players will be crucial, but he won’t want to lose momentum heading into the knockouts.Â
We have to talk about legendary captain Lionel Messi. He turned 39 this week but has been one of the leading lights of this World Cup notching five goals in his two games so far. No other Argentine player has scored.Â
With Jordan the weakest team in this group, Messi and Argentina have to strike the balance between helping their main man have a shot at the Golden Boot, and protecting him from injury. I think he will get the nod to start but be taken off after 60 minutes.
Julian Alvarez will probably replace Lautaro Martinez up top, while the experienced Nicolas Otamendi will start ahead of the injured Cristian Romero. He picked up a small knee issue but should return for the knockouts.Â
Elsewhere Nicolas Tagliafico, Leandro Paredes and Nicolas Gonzalez should all start, while Gonzalo Montiel should return at right-back. The industrious midfielders could do with a rest, with Giovani Lo Celso and Guiliano Simeone set to feature. Late call-up to the squad Marcos Senesi will also be hoping for some minutes at the back.

Key Player - Yazeed Yazeed Abulaila (Jordan)
I know it is boring to pick the goalkeeper of the underdogs, but Yazeed Yazeed Abulaila is going to be crucial for Jordan’s hopes in this finale. He made an impressive six saves against Algeria and will likely be even busier in this one.Â
He plays his club football Al-Hussein SC in Jordan and struggled against Austria in the opener, but looked far more convincing in the second game. He is going to have to have the performance of his life in this one.
Key Player - Lionel Messi (Argentina)
Imagine picking anybody else. The World Cup’s record goalscorer has been on fire this tournament, and even missed a penalty in that win over Austria. He’s a phenomenon, even at the age of 39. The best ever, nothing more needs to be said.
