Team News
Ugochukwu Iwu and attacker Vahan Bichakhchyan are both sidelined with injuries for Armenia and will have no part to play in these upcoming fixtures.
Tigran Barseghyan will begin a three-match suspension following his red card last time out against the Republic of Ireland.
Lucas Zelarayan was part of Armenia's squad last month, but at the age of 33, he has decided to retire from international football for personal reasons.
Daniel Lukacs and Zsombor Gruber will both be looking to force their way into the first XI after scoring in the reverse fixture which Hungary won 2-0. Barnabas Varga may be preferred to lead the line instead of Lukacs, having scored 18 goals in 22 games for Ferencvaros so far this campaign.
Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is set to earn his 60th cap for his country and he will look to pull the strings in this clash.
Armenia vs Hungary Predicted Lineups
- Armenia: Avagyan; Piloyan, Mkrtchyan, S. Muradyan; Hovhannisyan, K. Muradyan, Spertsyan, Tiknizyan; Serobyan, Ranos, Shaghoyan
- Hungary: B. Toth; Nego, Orban, Szalai, Kerkez; Schafer, Styles, Szoboszlai; Bolla, Varga, Sallai
Armenia have won one of their four qualifiers so far and they are 5/1 to stun Hungary on Thursday.
The draw is available at 16/5, while Hungary are 8/15 (implied probability of 65.2%) to come away with the three points - like they did against their opponents in the reverse fixture.
Hungary shut Armenia out on that occasion so they are 5/4 to keep a clean sheet.
Armenia vs Hungary Stats
- Both teams have won just one game in qualifying so far
- Hungary beat Armenia 2-0 in the reverse fixture
Match Result - Hungary @ 8/15
This is a massive match for both teams. Two points separate them right now, with Hungary second in the group. Portugal are five points clear at the top and the visitors will look to pull themselves closer to the table-toppers, and pull themselves further away from the hosts and Ireland.
It is surprising that Hungary have just the one victory so far but they can make it count now by beating the same team for a second time. I think when it comes to individual quality, the visitors have the edge.
In Szoboszlai and Varga alone, they should have enough creativity and firepower to put themselves in a very strong position ahead of their final fixture against Ireland on Sunday. I'm backing them to get the win here.

Anytime Goalscorer - Barnabas Varga @ 7/5
With my comment in the first selection you probably gathered where I was going with this one. Varga has been a regular source of goals for his country in recent years. The Ferencvaros front man already has three in this qualifying campaign and for his club he has 18 in 22 appearances across all competitions.
He heads into this international break in good form and he should be driven to play a key role for his country as they bid to reach the World Cup finals. I think he is a man for the big occasion so I'm picking him to get on the scoresheet.
