Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors Bet Builder Tips: 33/1 for a spicy encounter

After Botafogo produced the shock of the tournament by beating European champions PSG 1-0, the big guns will be wary of slipping up in this group stage. Bayern Munich smashed Auckland City 10-0 in their opener, and they face Boca Juniors at Geodis Park on Saturday morning (02:00 BST, Channel 5).
Below you will find my Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors Bet Builder Tips.

Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors Odds
BTTS
It is hard to judge Bayern’s opening day hammering of Auckland City, given they were playing against part-timers, but ultimately they did a professional job as they racked up double digits. Auckland only managed one shot on target, and Boca will certainly provide a sterner test for the Bundesliga champions.
This game is taking place in the state of Tennessee, but unlike the New Zealanders, Boca Juniors will be hoping the only ten they see is on the back of Edinson Cavani’s shirt. The Argentine outfit let a two-goal lead slip against Benfica as Ander Herrera was sent off in a feisty encounter, but they showed some decent attacking impetus, creating an xG of 1.10 despite going down to 10 fairly early.
I think they will be able to land a blow on Bayern in what I’m expecting to be another hotly contested Club World Cup fixture.
Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors Bet Builder Stats
- Michael Olise has averaged 1.37 shots on target per 90
- Boca Juniors got two reds and two yellows in their opening match
- Rodrigo Battaglia is the most-booked Boca player this season with six yellows
Michael Olise 1+ shot on target
A relatively safe pick to bump our odds up slightly. Michael Olise has been sensational since joining the Germans from Crystal Palace, producing 27 goal involvements, or 1.04 per 90. He was one of three Bayern boys who scored a brace against Auckland last time out, and his shot averages are up there with the best.
He’s now taken 57 shots for Bayern this season, with 33 of those landing on target. That works out at an average of 1.37 per 90, and a conversion rate of 17%. He isn’t shy about getting shots off at goal, so backing him to have 1 or more on target in this one feels sensible.
Dayot Upamecano, Marcos Rojo and Rodrigo Battaglia to be booked
Here’s where we turn this tepid Bet Builder into a big one. Based on what I saw in the first Boca game, where three players were sent off and four others were given yellows, I believe this will be an affair as spicy as the fried chicken in Nashville. Boca’s style of play leads them to accumulate a lot of yellow cards and although there were no yellows in Bayern’s opener, the 10-0 scoreline explains the lack of competitiveness in that fixture.
This is going to be a far tougher test for Vincent Kompany’s men, and they are going to be physically challenged at the very least. The two Boca players I’ve picked out to get carded are Marcos Rojo and Rodrigo Battaglia. If you remember watching Rojo for Manchester United, you’ll understand why he often finds himself having conversations with the referee.
The aggressive tough tackler should replace the suspended Jorge Figal in defence and the Argentine centre-back has got four yellows in just 15 Boca appearances this term, so he’s going to have his hands full against this Bayern attack. Meanwhile, midfielder Rodrigo Battaglia is the most-booked Boca player this season with six in 20.
Rojo didn’t get on the pitch against Benfica, but importantly for this bet, neither of them picked up yellows - meaning they aren’t at risk of suspension if they do get booked. Meanwhile I don’t think this will be an easy night for Bayern, and Dayot Upamecano is their most likely candidate to get booked.
On his way back from a serious injury, he played half an hour off the bench against Auckland and could start this one. He picked up eight yellows in just 37 matches this season and could still be a little rusty, so let’s back him to get another yellow against Boca.
