Uefa champions league scaled

Ferencvaros hold a 2-1 lead in their Uefa Champions League qualifier against FC Noah ahead of their second leg on Wednesday (19:00) at the Groupama Arena. The Hungarian outfit battled from a goal down to win in Armenia and now they look to get their job done on home soil.

Read on for my Ferencvaros vs Noah predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Ferencvaros may have prevailed in the opening leg, but for the centre back pairing of Ibrahim Cisse and Stefan Gartenmann, it was not a good performance.

Cisse was shown a straight red card late in the game and will subsequently miss out on the second leg. Gartenmann scored an early own goal and was demoted to the bench for the club’s league opener against MTK Budapest on Saturday.

If the Swiss centre-back is recalled to the lineup on Wednesday, he is likely to be joined by Gabor Szalai, who enjoyed a strong performance over the weekend, while Toon Raemaekers offers boss Robbie Keane an alternative option.

Former Cardiff City man Callum O'Dowda scored in the first leg and is set to continue in the XI, while former Liverpool man Naby Keita is an option to feature in midfield.

Barnabas Varga was the other man on the scoresheet in Armenia and he will likely lead the line once again for the Hungarian side.

Ferencvaros vs Noah Stats

  • Ferencvaros have won each of their three meetings against Armenian opponents
  • Ferencvaros last appeared in the group stages of the Champions League during the 2020-21 season

Noah have no fresh injury concerns ahead of their trip to Budapest and boss Sandro Perkovic can afford to name his strongest team.

Hovhannes Harutyunyan, Eric Boakye, and Marin Jakolis have all been in and around the squad in these early Champions League qualifying games, having all joined the club in the summer, and they are all set to feature on Wednesday evening.

Ferencvaros vs Noah Odds

Ferencvaros have won each of their three meetings against Armenian opponents and they are the 1/3 favourites to win this match in regulation time.

The Hungarian side's weekend result was a draw and the stalemate is available at 18/5 for Wednesday's contest.

Noah are 6/1 to prevail in 90 minutes.

Both teams to score has been a winning selection in each of the hosts' past three fixtures in all competitions and BTTS is marketed at 4/5 (which has an implied probability of 55.6%) for this clash.

Ferencvaros to win to nil @ 13/10

Ferencvaros are in the position they want to be in. They have the lead in the tie and the second leg is on home soil. Keane and his players cannot get complacent as they still have to finish the job to go through to the next round.

They do have a stronger squad than their opponents, which will play its part, and being the home side in front of their fans should spur them on to victory. As I mentioned earlier, FTC have a good record against Armenian opponents, having triumphed in all three matches played against such opposition.

With the quality in their ranks, I think they can wrap up the tie in style, so I think there is value to be had in backing them to win to nil. Yes, they conceded in the first leg but it was the result of an own goal, while they largely handled Noah's attacking threat.

Today's Football Fixtures

Ferencvaros vs Noah - To Win to Nil Ferencvaros

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Over 2.5 Ferencvaros goals @ 5/4

In the likes of Varga, O'Dowda, Lenny Joseph and Aleksandar Pesic, Ferencvaros are not short of players who can step up and deliver in front of goal, with Varga and O'Dowda the goalscorers in the first leg against Noah.

I think being back home can help the hosts to have a productive evening in front of goal. There have been at least three goals scored in six of their past eight games across all competitions, and I think this trend can continue on Wednesday - with them reaching this threshold singlehandedly.
