FCSB vs Virtus Prediction: Another big win on the cards for FCSB

FCSB outclassed Virtus 7-1 in last week's Champions League qualifier and there is little to suggest that things will be any different in Tuesday's return game. 

The Red and Blues are one of the grand old names of European football, winning this competition back in 1986, and last season ended their nine-year wait to reclaim the Romanian title. San Marino's Virtus are here after claiming their first domestic league crown, but their lack of experience and quality was exposed last week, trailing 5-0 at half-time, and they could be in for a rough evening at Stadionul Steaua.

FCSB's advantage means Elias Charalambous may look to rotate, with Nana Antwi, Joyskim Dawa, David Miculescu and Baba Alhassan potential starters after coming on at the break last week. 

Opponents Virtus could hand a start to Elia Ciacci after looking relatively bright off the bench in the first leg.

FCSB are understandably the huge 1/50 favourites to win on the night, with a draw 12/1 and Virtus an ambitious value candidate at 25/1. 

Both teams to score might be an interesting betting play at 13/8, while a repeat 7-1 in the hosts' favour is 28/1.

Few will give Virtus any hope heading to Bucharest and anyone associated with the club will find little solace here. 

FCSB's history means they retain an air of mystique among fans of a certain age who yearn for an era when sides from smaller footballing countries could conquer the continent. 

It would be incredible to see them back in the Champions League group stages for the first time since 2013-14. 

That might be beyond them again, with the second qualifying round tie against last season's Israeli league winners Maccabi Tel Aviv looking like a tough draw, but they can build confidence with another big win on Tuesday. 

A 7-1 success hints that more of the same could be on the cards and backing them to overcome a four-goal handicap looks worthwhile.

FCSB may have a comfortable night, but that could cause them to lose focus, especially as the game goes on.

Virtus' goal last week came after 86 minutes when they were 7-0 down and it could be a case of complacency, but also the San Marino side's determination to keep going this time around.

FCSB also conceded in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Cluj and have let goals in during four of their last five competitive games at home.

Charalambous' side are hardly watertight and could give up chances if they switch off, especially with Friday's away trip to Unirea Slobozia to plan for.
