Everton goodison park scaled

David Moyes' second debut in charge of Everton didn't go as he'd have liked as they were beaten 1-0 by Aston Villa. A quick turnaround leads him into another Premier League clash at Goodison Park on Sunday (14:00, Sky Sports Main Event), this time against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Toffees have lost their last three league games heading into this, while Spurs have been beaten in four of their previous five in the top flight. Below I've outlined my Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur bet builder tips, which pays out at 6/1.

Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur Bet Builder Tips

  • Under 2.5 goals
  • Idrissa Gueye and Pedro Porro 1+ fouls
  • Dejan Kulusevski 1+ shots on target

Bet Builder pays at 6/1

Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur Odds

Moyes will have gained a better perspective of the task ahead of him after the defeat to Villa, having seen his squad in action. He knows that it will be challenging but his achievements in this division with West Ham in the recent years should help him in his quest to turn Everton's fortunes around.

Their games at Goodison Park are going to be crucial if they are to avoid relegation and they will need to improve their points return here, having won just two matches out of 10 to date in the top flight.

He and his players will be sensing an opportunity when Spurs come to town as Ange Postecoglou's side have lost six of their last eight in the Premier League, with the latest coming against bitter rivals Arsenal.

Tottenham took the lead at the Emirates against the run of play, but once Arsenal pulled themselves back in, the Spurs players looked nervy as their current run of form is impacting them deeply.

Under 2.5 goals

I do believe this game is one to avoid for calling a result, as neither side can really be relied upon to win currently. So my bet builder begins with a goal threshold, and I am turning to under 2.5 goals on Merseyside.

Everton may be the second-lowest scorers in the division with 15, but they boast the joint-best defensive record outside the top four with 26 conceded. Many of their games this season have featured a low volume of goals, and under 2.5 goals has struck in 13 of their 20 fixtures so far, amounting to 65 per cent.

This has been a winning selection in each of their last six appearances in the top flight, including three at Goodison Park. Spurs are the second-highest scorers in the division but their attacking prowess has not been as consistent as it was in the earlier months of the campaign.

Under 2.5 goals has landed in just three of their past nine outings in the Premier League, but with how solid Everton have been defensively, and Spurs' own confidence issues of late, I am expecting a low-scoring contest on Sunday.

Idrissa Gueye and Pedro Porro 1+ fouls

This should be a tight, cagey affair between two teams who are looking to revitalise their respective seasons. It's a game both will view as a chance to get back to winning ways, which should provide an interesting edge.

I'm expecting both sets of players to be very busy at Goodison, and I think fouls could be a good place to look for value. I've picked out two players to be penalised on Sunday, starting with Idrissa Gueye for the hosts.

The Senegalese midfielder is your typical combative midfielder who is often at the centre of tussles in the middle of the park. In 19 league matches this term he has been penalised on 30 occasions, so he is averaging 1.6 fouls per game.

Football Odds

His latest came against Villa the other night and against a Spurs side that look to break quickly on the counter-attack, Gueye could be called upon to take one for the team at the weekend.

For the visitors I have selected right-back Pedro Porro. The Spaniard was run ragged by Leandro Trossard last time out and he was drawn in for two fouls. The Spaniard has made 13 fouls in 21 appearances thus far, so he is averaging 0.6 fouls per game.

I like his chances to get cautioned here because he is coming up against an exciting dribbler in Iliman Ndiaye on Everton's left flank, who drew two fouls against Villa earlier in the week.

Porro is likely still having nightmares from Trossard sending him for a hot dog on Wednesday, so he may not be mentally prepared to face another wide player who excels at trickery.

Dejan Kulusevski 1+ shots on target

This bet builder rounds off with Spurs' Dejan Kulusevski to have a shot on target. The Sweden international has arguably been his side's best player during their disappointing run, and has often looked like the person giving his all time and again.

Whether he plays out wide or in midfield he tries his best and you'd think if more of his teammates were like him, Spurs would be in a much stronger position right now. Kulusevski is a tidy player when given room to drive into, and he navigates himself into good goalscoring positions.

He has hit the target on 12 occasions this season from 32 shots, with his latest coming against Arsenal on Wednesday night. Everton are a tough unit to break down, but I fancy this man to test Jordan Pickford at least once.
