Everton vs Liverpool Bet Builder Tips: 16/1 for away success

Everton recorded a massive win over Wolves in midweek to give them a major confidence boost heading into the Merseyside Derby, which takes place at 12:30 on Saturday lunchtime, live on Sky Sports Main Event. The Toffees will be on a high after that 4-0 win put some distance between themselves and the bottom three.
Meanwhile, Liverpool had to settle for a draw at Newcastle after a pulsating game finished 3-3, with Fabian Schar grabbing an equaliser for the hosts late on. They remain top of the league, but the gap is down to seven points heading into derby day. Below you will find my Everton vs Liverpool Bet Builder Tips, as I look to pick out a big winner.

Liverpool to win and BTTS No
Liverpool to win to nil, in essence. I know they conceded three goals against Newcastle, Alex Mac Allister is suspended and Caoimhin Kelleher is looking slightly shaky in goal, but I just think that the Reds will have too much quality for a relatively blunt Everton attack.
Calling them blunt after they’ve just beaten Wolves 4-0 may seem harsh, but two of those were Craig Dawson own goals and Gary O’Neil’s side are pretty woeful. He is now on the brink of losing his job, and to their credit, Everton took full advantage. However, in the four games prior, they had failed to score a single goal.
Manchester United away is a tough one, but Brentford, West Ham and Southampton all managed to keep Everton at bay, and so Liverpool shouldn’t have too much trouble either. We could all get excited about this being a big derby, but there’s a massive gulf in class between the two sides. The final Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park should end in a comfortable away win to nil.
Mohamed Salah to score 2+ goals
Just getting better and better isn’t he? Two more goals in midweek took his total to 13 in 14 Premier League matches this season and he is right in contention for the Golden Boot once again. This could well be his final season at Anfield, if a new acceptable contract isn’t sent his way, and he is making sure that the world’s best clubs are still interested in signing him next summer.
We’ve all seen how good Salah is this term, so I don’t need to go into too much detail, and clearly Arne Slot knows exactly what he can bring. He has rotated his front three with Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez all being given game time so far this term, but Salah is the one constant. Liverpool’s penalty taker has been peppering in the shots as well, with 47 in total and 28 on target to his name in 2024/25.
He will be keen to make his mark on this derby once again, having scored seven in 11 games against the Toffees over the course of his career. His last Goodison appearance could be a special one.
Everton most booking points
Everton currently sit third in the Fair Play table, with Liverpool just behind them in fifth, so although we may expect a feisty affair with loads of cards, that may not materialise, especially on a Saturday lunchtime. I think the bar will be set pretty high for a caution by referee Michael Oliver, but I think we can boost our odds by backing the home side to pick up the most bookings.
Mac Allister, Liverpool’s biggest offender for yellow cards, is suspended for this one having picked up his fifth booking against Newcastle, so that automatically lowers the risk for the away side. I also think they will be in control of this game, while an Everton defence featuring Ashley Young, James Tarkowski and Michael Keane (three, three and four yellows respectively), is always going to pick up cards.
This has to be a combative performance from Sean Dyche’s team, but I just feel it will slightly stray over the line. I don’t think there will be a tonne of cards, but I will back the Toffees to pick up more than the Reds do.
