Manchester United return to Premier League action this weekend with a difficult looking trip to Everton. The Toffees have been scalded by a ten-point deduction over the international break and are now desperate to win back those points that they feel have been unfairly taken from them.

It should be a barnstorming encounter on Sunday afternoon, with kick-off at 16:30.

Everton vs Manchester United Bet Builder Tips:

  • Everton to win
  • Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score
  • James Garner, Ashley Young and Harry Maguire to be booked

Team News

Everton don’t have any fresh injury concerns moving into this one, and there is positive news for Seamus Coleman, who is close to being involved with team training once again. Meanwhile Manchester United are set to welcome Luke Shaw back to the first team, but Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez are set to be out until Christmas.

Match Odds

Everton are 7/4 to win this match, while Manchester United are priced at 7/5. A draw can be backed at 23/10 while over 2.5 goals is 4/5 and BTTS is 8/13.

Everton to win

I just feel the emotion behind this game from an Everton point of view will create an atmosphere that Manchester United simply won’t be able to handle. They’ve come up short in intimidating atmospheres before, notably the 7-0 humiliation at Anfield, and when Goodison Park is up for a game, it is a tough place to go.

Everton are also in good form, having won three of their last four in all competitions, and only lost one of their last six, away at Anfield when down to ten men. They certainly look more convincing than United at the minute, even though Ten Hag’s men are top of the form table. I believe the points deduction could actually work in Everton’s favour on Sunday afternoon.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score

The Toffees have looked like a different team since Calvert-Lewin returned to fitness. There’s no doubt he’s one of the most important centre-forwards in the division, and when he isn’t fit, it’s a huge loss to Sean Dyche.

Now he’s back fit and firing however, he could give this United defence the runaround. He’s a threat from set pieces and will fancy his chances against a Manchester United defence that has looked susceptible in away matches this term.

James Garner, Ashley Young and Harry Maguire to be booked

This is what makes this bet 100/1. The atmosphere around Goodison Park is going to be at fever pitch come kick-off, with a march to the ground already planned by supporters. They will be protesting against the Premier League, however, once the game starts, all of that frustration will be charged into the players on the pitch.

Everton are going to be right up for this one, with an overwhelming feeling of unjust that Dyche will surely harness. Expect tackles to fly in, left, right and centre as the Toffees look to make a mark on the game. Ashley Young has already picked up four yellows this season, while James Garner was booked last time out having been moved into a central role. If he continues there, expect another battling display from the young midfielder.

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire has been in excellent form recently for United, and is the only defender guaranteed to start at this point. However, his lack of pace may cause him problems if Everton are flooding forward, and I can certainly see him picking up a yellow in this feisty encounter.
