Monday Night Football this week will have a massive impact on the relegation battle as Everton host a Crystal Palace side that is leaking goals.

In front of the Goodison Park faithful, Sean Dyche will be targeting three points that will ease Everton’s relegation worries, and drag Roy Hodgson’s side further into the mire. Below we’ve previewed the game and put forward a couple of betting selections.

Everton vs Crystal Palace Tips

  • Everton to win @ 4/6
  • Over 2.5 goals @ 11/10

Team News

Dyche will be without Arnaut Danjuma, Dele Alli and Andre Gomes while Ben Godfrey could return from his illness. Meanwhile, key midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure returned to training this week after his hamstring issue so could play some part here.

Meanwhile, it is still unknown who will be on the touchline for Crystal Palace on Monday night. Hodgson was taken to hospital on Thursday and he is unlikely to return for this game, with talks about his future also taking place. On the pitch, Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi are all out, while Marc Guehi is getting closer to a return.

Match Odds

Everton are priced at 4/6 to win this game, with Crystal Palace the outsiders at 9/2. A draw can be backed at 13/5, BTTS is EVS and over 2.5 goals is 11/10.

Everton to win @ 4/6

It seems counterintuitive to back a side that are second-bottom of the form table to win a match, but there’s good reasoning behind this selection. Crystal Palace have been in dreadful form and worryingly, there performance levels have been pretty dismal too.

They’ve conceded 14 goals in their last four matches, losing three of those and only beating bottom of the table Sheffield United at home. The Eagles have also not won away from home since beating Burnley on November 4, while Everton have beaten them in the league and FA Cup already this term.

Without Hodgson and their best players, we aren’t sure how Palace will respond. But Everton simply have to go all out for the win to end this poor run they are on.

Over 2.5 goals @ 11/10

A long price for a few goals at Goodison Park and one I am happy to get behind. When these sides last met in the league Everton ran out 3-2 winners, and Palace have been leaking goals of late, especially on the road. They’ve conceded five at Arsenal and four at Brighton in their last two away trips, and the Toffees will look to come out of the blocks flying and put the away side to the sword.

Everton have scored in each of their last three home matches and I believe this game will be more entertaining than many expect it to be. Both have a point to prove, and I believe we could see a decent game break out at Goodison.
