DR Congo vs Guinea Prediction: Guirassy to announce himself in Abidjan

DR Congo put their unbeaten record in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on the line again on Friday night (KO, 20:00), as they face Guinea in a quarter-final tie at Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan.

The Leopards drew all three Group F games - against Zambia, Morocco and Tanzania - before another stalemate with Egypt in the Round of 16 required extra-time and penalties, which they emerged victorious from.

Guinea, meanwhile, drew with Cameroon, beat Gambia and lost to Senegal to finish third in Group C and set up a knockout clash with Equatorial Guinea, whom they beat 1-0 thanks to a late Mohamed Bayo goal.

DR Congo have no suspensions or injuries to contend with ahead of Friday, so they could name an unchanged starting XI, with Yoane Wissa and Cedric Bakumbu alongside Meschack Elia - who scored against the Pharaohs last Sunday - in attack.

Guinea must decide whether to hand starts to Guirassy and Keita, two players who have only made one start apiece at the 2023 AFCON. They both came off the bench against Equatorial Guinea, though, and helped their nation find a late winner.

Sekou Sylla and Morgan Guilavogui could make way if the duo are restored to the line-up.

However, I see Guinea coming on strong as this tournament enters the final stages, with Guirassy and Keita nearing full fitness.

Both of these sides have scored in three of their four games, so we could see a couple of goals at least, too.

Serhou Guirassy to score anytime @ 21/10

The Stuttgart forward is yet to score at the 2023 AFCON after picking up an injury heading into the tournament, but after building his fitness up in the first four games, it could be time for the 27-year-old to be unleashed.

Guirassy has scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga this season and is behind only Harry Kane (23) in the goalscoring charts.

Bayo has stolen the headlines so far in Ivory Coast, but it could be time for Guirassy to make his mark now against a side which has kept only one clean sheet so far.
