Chesterfield are closing in on the National League title and they should bank yet another three points when they travel to Dorking on Saturday, 2nd March.

The Spireites are 23 points clear at the top of the table and poised for a return to the Football League but relegation-threatened Dorking will be hoping to cause an upset in the 12.30pm kick-off at Meadowbank.

Dorking vs Chesterfield betting tips

  • Chesterfield to win and both teams to score @ 8/5
  • Half-Time Correct Score - Chesterfield 2-1 @ 11/1

Team news
Dorking are missing veteran centre-back Tony Craig due to suspension so Joe Cook could start in defence after returning from his loan spell at Weymouth.

Chesterfield winger Ryan Colclough will not be risked as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury. James Berry and Jeff King have shaken off knocks and should be involved but Sheffield United loanee Miguel Freckleton (hamstring) has returned to his parent club.

Chesterfield to win and both teams to score @ 8/5

Chesterfield have won 27 of their first 35 National League matches this season and another four victories would guarantee the title for Paul Cook's men.

Their stunning campaign started with a dramatic 4-3 home win over Dorking in August and Saturday's reverse fixture could be another entertaining affair.

Given the size of Chesterfield's lead over their promotion rivals it is understandable if their intensity levels have dropped a little and they had a three-game winless streak before Tuesday's 2-0 victory at Barnet.

That lean run comprised 2-2 draws with Ebbsfleet and Rochdale, either side of a 4-3 loss at second-placed Bromley, and lowly Dorking may be able to get on the scoresheet on Saturday.

Both teams have scored in five of Chesterfield's last six league games and all four of their defeats have been away from home this term.

Those stats offer a glimmer of hope for Dorking but a Chesterfield win with both teams finding the net looks the best bet.

That has been a winning wager in Wanderers' last three home matches as they lost 3-1 to AFC Fylde and Halifax before a 4-1 reverse against Ebbsfleet last weekend.

A 4-1 win for Chesterfield is worth considering at 14/1 in the Correct Score market.

Half-Time Correct Score - Chesterfield 2-1 @ 11/1

Dorking have had a tough time at home, losing six of their last seven league games at Meadowbank, and they may struggle to keep the champions-elect quiet for long.

Wanderers have been trailing 2-0, 2-1 and 2-1 at half-time in their last three home defeats and Chesterfield are worth chancing at a big price to lead 2-1 at the break on Saturday.

The Spireites have been ahead at half-time in nine of their last 10 league fixtures, including the 4-3 defeat at Bromley, and they were 2-1 up after 45 minutes in last month's home draw with Ebbsfleet.

Match odds
Chesterfield are hot favourites at 1/4 to take another step towards promotion to the EFL by beating 7/1 shots Dorking on Saturday.

The draw is 9/2 although only one of the Spireites' 17 away matches has finished all-square this season and over 3.5 goals is a 6/5 chance. A repeat of Chesterfield's 4-3 win in the reverse fixture can be backed at 80/1.
