Both Teams To Score - Yes
Crystal Palace and Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park in their first league meeting of the 2022/23 campaign in January 2023, with both teams also netting in a 2-1 win for the Red Devils at Old Trafford just over two weeks later.
However, Erik ten Hag's side failed to breach the Eagles' backline in the Premier League last season as they lost 1-0 at Old Trafford last September - four days after beating them 3-0 at the same venue in the Carabao Cup - and 4-0 at Selhurst Park in May.
Generally, though, Man Utd haven't found it difficult to find the net this calendar year, with a 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool at the start of the month the only time they have blanked in six games - including the Community Shield penalty shoot-out loss to Manchester City - across all competitions this term, and just the third time in 2024, which includes that May thrashing in south London.
Both teams have scored in three of Palace's four Premier League matches so far, the most recent being a 2-2 draw with Leicester City at Selhurst Park, while this bet also landed in their 2-1 Carabao Cup win at Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday.
They've now scored nine goals across their last four games - two of which were in the cup - while Man Utd warmed up for Saturday's contest with a 7-0 annihilation of League 1 outfit Barnsley on Wednesday, so the visitors should be equally confident of scoring at least once this weekend.
Crystal Palace to Win
Palace are yet to win in the Premier League this season but after losing their opening two games to Brentford and West Ham United, there have been signs of life as they drew with both Chelsea and Leicester. Of course, being held to a stalemate at home by Leicester - who were two up at Selhurst Park last Saturday - isn't particularly encouraging, but the fight they showed to take a point after finding themselves in such dire straits should fill Oliver Glasner's side with the belief that they can take hits in their stride.
The Eagles took six points off Man Utd last season and it's been less than five months since they gave the Red Devils a good hiding in south London, albeit with Michael Olise still pulling the strings before a summer move to Bayern Munich.
Nevertheless, while Ten Hag's charges arrive into this weekend's clash on the back of two victories that have seen them score 10 without conceding, Palace should still be considered favourites to win at home, in my opinion.
Beating Southampton - yet to pick up a point this season - and Barnsley - seventh in League 1 - doesn't, to me, send any strong signals about Man Utd, who were far from sparkling when taking on Fulham, Brighton and Liverpool previously, losing to the Seagulls and the Reds.
Palace will be desperate to get their first victory of the campaign as soon as possible, and I think Man Utd are ideal opponents to face in their quest for three points.
Eddie Nketiah (CRY) Anytime Scorer
Eddie Nketiah failed to score on his Palace debut last weekend but supporters were still singing his praises after the game following a livewire performance in SE25.
Nketiah led the shot count with six, five of which came in the first 33 minutes, and he forced a save from Foxes goalkeeper Mads Hermansen with one effort.
The 25-year-old got off the mark in midweek, though, as he struck the opening goal in the Eagles' Carabao Cup victory at Loftus Road to knock Championship side QPR out of the competition.
The Lewisham-born striker will now be looking to open his account in the league when Man Utd arrive to Selhurst Park on Saturday, and he knows what it's like to score past the Red Devils, bagging a brace in a 3-2 win for Arsenal against Ten Hag's side in January 2023.
Nketiah certainly has the qualities to punish a United defence that shipped two goals at Brighton and three at home to Liverpool.
Daniel Munoz (CRY) 1+ Shots
Nketiah's teammate, Daniel Munoz, will also be looking to trouble the visitors' backline.
Munoz is a defender by trade and operates as a right wing-back in Glasner's 3-4-2-1 formation, which gives the Colombian plenty of opportunities to attack and make his mark in the attacking third of the field.
The Colombia international averaged a shot every other game for the Eagles last season following his January move from Genk and is averaging the same so far this term, failing to shoot against Brentford, West Ham and Chelsea before pulling the trigger twice during the first half of last weekend's draw with Leicester.
Injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have forced United to deploy Diogo Dalot as an auxiliary left-back at the start of this season and the Portuguese ace's limitations in that position have already been exposed by Brighton's Yankuba Minteh and Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, with left-winger Marcus Rashford not exactly notorious for being a big help defensively.
As such, Palace may look to exploit their opponents down that side of the field, with Munoz hoping to profit alongside Nketiah.
Marcus Rashford (MUN) 1+ Shots on Target
Rashford endured a dismal start to the 2024/25 campaign, failing to score or get a shot on target in his first three games. However, he has looked more like the Rashford of two years ago in recent matches, scoring with one of his three shots on target at Southampton before bagging a brace in United's midweek hammering of Barnsley at Old Trafford, where he registered three shots on target from his six efforts.
His confidence should be up ahead of a trip to south London, so I'm backing the 26-year-old to at least force a save from former teammate Dean Henderson on Saturday.
Manuel Ugarte (MUN) Carded
The sixth and final leg of this bet builder takes us to the player card market, where Man Utd midfielder Manuel Ugarte sticks out like a sore thumb. The 23-year-old summer signing from Paris Saint-Germain only made his debut off the bench last weekend before earning his first start against the Tykes on Wednesday, and he was in the thick of the action straight away as he committed a whopping six fouls in less than an hour of action.
The Uruguayan is an all-action midfielder who excels in putting his foot in and making interceptions, but he can also be incredibly rash and conceding six free-kicks at home, in a match the Red Devils won convincingly, suggests to me that he is still rusty and will take a while to get up to the pace of English football.
There's no certainty that he will start on Saturday but there have been calls from supporters to see him given the nod in the engine room at Selhurst Park, and while his aggressiveness will be welcomed at an intimidating venue, the likes of Eze and Nketiah will be licking their lips at the possibility of an over-eager midfielder biting at their ankles, and it wouldn't surprise me to see the United man go into the book this weekend.
Ugarte was booked 11 times in 31 league appearances during his final season with Sporting in Portugal and was cautioned in all four Europa League games he played for them, while he saw yellow on seven occasions for PSG last term despite not being a regular starter.
