Crystal Palace vs Brentford Prediction: Mateta can strike against leaky Bees defence

Hoping to extend their unbeaten run to seven games, Crystal Palace welcome Brentford to Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon (14:00, live on Sky Sports Main Event).
The Eagles have won each of their last three games across all competitions, while Brentford have won just one of their last nine competitive fixtures. Read on for my Crystal Palace vs Brentford prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.
Team News
Adam Wharton hasn't featured for Palace since the end of October, and will be out once again on Sunday. Jefferson Larma missed the victory away at West Ham United last week, but Oliver Glasner is hopeful that the 30-year-old will return here.
After bagging a brace at the London Stadium, Jean-Philippe Mateta will lead the line at Selhurst Park, but Matheus Franca remains a doubt with a muscle injury.
As for the Bees, Igor Thiago remains on the sidelines with a long-term knee issue, while the likes of Joshua Dasilva, Aaron Hickey and Ethan Pinnock will stay in the treatment room.
Mathias Jensen had to settle for a place on the bench against Liverpool, but Thomas Frank may opt to recall the Danish international for Sunday's tie.
Crystal Palace vs Brentford Odds
Palace are 21/20 to claim the three points, giving them an implied win probability of 48.8%. The draw is currently priced up at 5/2, and a Brentford win can be backed at 23/10.
Mateta leads the anytime goalscorer market at 7/5 and Bryan Mbeumo is the shortest-priced for the visitors at 9/5.
Draw @ 5/2
Palace are unbeaten in their last five league outings, but I think they'll have to settle for a point against Brentford here.
Despite their impressive form in recent months, the Eagles have been an inconsistent side for the majority of the season, and have struggled to impress at home.
Glasner's men have found the back of the net on just 10 occasions in front of their own fans, and have won just two of their 11 fixtures at Selhurst Park this term. Brentford's away form doesn't make for much better reading - the Bees have won just once on their travels this season, scoring just 11 times.
In addition, Palace have shared the spoils in three of their last five league games at Selhurst Park, so I believe both teams will cancel each other out on Sunday.

Jean-Philippe Mateta to score anytime @ 11/8
Crystal Palace's number 14 heads into Sunday's clash in fine form, having scored four times in his last three games.
The last 10 league meetings between the pair have produced 35 goals, suggesting that there should be plenty of chances for Mateta to get himself on the scoresheet.
I've already outlined Brentford's issues on the road, and they've shipped 16 goals in 11 away trips this term. I think Mateta looks a decent price to strike against a leaky Bees defence on Sunday.
