Cray Valley Paper Mills pulled off one of the shocks of the round as they held League One Charlton Athletic to a draw at the Valley, and now they will look to complete the job in the replay on Wednesday night (19:45). We’ve previewed the game and taken a look at the odds to come up with a couple of selections.

Cray Valley Paper Mills vs Charlton Athletic

  • Double Chance: Cray Valley or draw (after 90 mins) @ 11/4
  • BTTS Yes (after 90 mins) @ 4/5

Team News

Conor McGrandles scored a 93rd minute equaliser at League One leaders Portsmouth and Charlton are likely to name a stronger XI this time around. Miles Leaburn, Alfie May and Michael Hector could come in for Michael Appleton as he looks to avoid an embarrassing cup exit.

Cray Valley Paper Mills are likely to name the same XI as they did in the first game, although Adam Julian Coombes is pushing for a start after impressing off the bench.

Match Odds

Cray Valley are 17/2 to win the match, while Charlton are 1/4 to take victory. A draw can be backed at 5/1, BTTS is 4/5 and over 2.5 goals is priced at 2/5.

Double Chance: Cray Valley or draw (after 90 mins) @ 11/4

What is the point in the FA Cup if we can’t enjoy a potential upset? 8th tier Cray Valley put in a superb display in the first leg to secure a 1-1 draw, and despite a late onslaught, they held on to secure the replay. Now on home soil, in front of their own fans, they will fancy their chances of making this a very uncomfortable evening for Charlton.

Of course, the League One side are the favourites, and it all depends on how strong Appleton decides to go with his team selection, but I believe we could be on for an upset here. It could be a backs against the wall situation again for Cray Valley, and so I’m not brave enough to pick them to win outright, but I believe the double chance on offer for them not to lose at 11/4 offers good value. They can force this tie to extra-time at the very least.

BTTS Yes (after 90 mins) @ 4/5

Although Cray Valley only had 30% possession at the Valley, we saw them create several goalscoring opportunities in the 1-1 draw. The goal they scored may have been an own goal, but they had eight shots over the 90 minutes and got into great attacking positions throughout.

As a result, and on home soil again, I believe both teams will find the net. Charlton are one of the finest attacking outfits in League One and should be able to score, while at home, Cray Valley will be even more adventurous.
