It feels like Coventry City are finally getting back to being the side that made it to the Championship play-off final last season. The Sky Blues have just posted back-to-back victories against Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday, with just three points separating them from the play-off places.

Mark Robins' side have had to endure a slow and tough start to the season but it looks as though things are starting to click into gear for them. They take on  Swansea City at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Friday night (19:45).

The Swans are still yet to name a successor to Michael Duff as they continue to blow hot and cold with their results in the second tier. They head to Coventry having just been hammered 5-0 by Southampton and their former boss Russell Martin.

Coventry vs Swansea Betting Tips

  • Tatsuhiro Sakamoto to score anytime - 11/4
  • Coventry to score in both halves - 6/4

Match Odds

Coventry are the favourites to win this clash, being valued at just 4/6. If you fancy a stalemate, a draw can be backed at 13/5. If you feel that Swansea can pull off an upset here, they are priced at 10/3 to pick up the three points.

Both teams to score is valued at 4/6. Over 2,5 goals is 8/11.

Team News

The hosts continue to be without the services of Fabio Tavares, who has been out for almost a year with an achilles injury. Ben Sheaf is a doubt to feature after missing the Boxing Day victory over Sheffield Wednesday due to the cut he sustained on his head against Sunderland. Defender Liam Kitching will be unavailable for selection after getting sent off against the Owls in injury time.

Swansea are set to be without Azeem Abdulai, Steven Benda, Harrison Ashby and Josh Ginelly due to injury. Natahanael Ogbeta and Mykola Kuharevich could return to the matchday squad after overcoming their own physical problems.

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto to score anytime @ 11/4

As Coventry have been enjoying themselves of late, a lot of it has been down to their dazzling Japanese winger Tatsuhiro Sakamoto. The winger turned in an excellent display against Birmingham City earlier in the month and he has been in fine form ever since.

In his last two outings in Sky Blue, the wide man has scored three goals, including a brace against Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day. This has seen his goal tally for the campaign in the league rise to four goals, so he is enjoying his most influential run 0f games for Coventry over the festive period.

We are expecting this to continue against the inconsistent Swans on Friday night. Sakamoto has been a very exciting player to watch this term and we are just waiting to see him turn Swansea defenders inside and out when these two sides meet.

With goals in his last two appearances, he has found a new level of confidence in a Coventry shirt that should serve him well in his next home game. He has a taste for goals at the moment and he will be itching to add to his tally and help his side push for a top-six spot heading into 2024.

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto to score anytime at 11/4

Coventry to score in both halves @ 6/4

We have a good feeling about this one. The Sky Blues are in a good run of form and the play-off spots are firmly in their sights. Coventry have managed to get on the scoresheet in both halves of a match on eight occasions in the Championship this season, including in their last two fixtures.

And they are about to face a Swansea side who are going to be very low on morale after losing 5-0 to Southampton last time out. The hosts will look to capitalise on this and seek a fast start at the CBS Arena to set the tone of the game.

Confidence is with them and the players are starting to get a better understanding of their roles now, which is why we have seen an improvement in their results. They have a lot of quality in attack to hurt Swansea, especially with Sakamoto in fine form, along with the likes of Callum O'Hare, Haji Wright and Ellis Simms. There could be goals aplenty for Robins' men on Friday night.

Coventry to score in both halves at 6/4
