Manchester City head to the Danish capital in a confident mood on Tuesday where they take on FC Copenhagen at Parken Stadium in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

The Citizens are aiming to become just the second side to win back-to-back Champions League titles and their extra quality is expected to shine through in this test.

Team News

Lukas Lerager picked up a red card in Copenhagen's last European outing and is suspended for this clash, while Davit Khocholava and Theo Sander are both sidelined with knee injuries. Birger Meling is doubtful because of a muscle problem.

City boss Pep Guardiola has a fully-fit squad to choose from and he is likely to make some alterations to the side who beat Everton at the weekend, with Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva expected to return to the starting XI.

Match Odds

City are 1/4 favourites to pick up the win in Denmark, with the draw priced at 5/1 and Copenhagen 12/1 to land a surprise victory against the reigning European champions.

Both teams to score, which has landed in Copenhagen's last three matches and three of City's last four away matches, is available at 6/5.

These sides met in the group stage of last season's Champions League and the Citizens ended up taking four points from the fixtures, winning 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium before drawing 0-0 in Copenhagen.

A last-16 tie now awaits the pair in the 2023/24 edition and although The Lions held City on home soil the last time they met, it is hard to see the reigning European champions not finding the back of the net.

Guardiola's troops are on a 10-game winning streak heading into the contest, scoring 29 goals and conceding five times during this period, while they have chalked up seven victories in a row away from home.

City have not been watertight at the back and they have kept just two clean sheets from their last nine road assignments, which suggests Copenhagen can at least get on the scoresheet.

The Lions have failed to score in just two of their last 11 home fixtures and they netted six times across their three Champions League group matches at Parken Stadium, losing 2-1 to Bayern Munich before beating Manchester United 4-3 and Galatasaray 1-0.

#PickYourPunt - Elias Achouri and Rodri both to be carded @ 10/1

An interesting #PickYourPunt for this clash is for Copenhagen forward Elias Achouri and City midfielder Rodri both to be booked, which pays out at 10/1 if successful.

Tunisia international Achouri has been no stranger to the referee's notebook this season, having been cautioned four times in the league and once in the Champions League.

Joining the 25-year-old in the book could be City enforcer Rodri, who has been shown seven yellows in the Premier League this season.

Guardiola's side enjoy so much possession that they can often leave themselves exposed at the back and it could be down to 27-year-old Rodri to stop any possible Copenhagen counter by any means necessary.
