Colombia vs Paraguay Prediction: Colombia can cruise to victory

Colombia get their tilt at the Copa America crown with a tie against Paraguay (Monday, 23:00) and Los Cafeteros can show why that should be considered potential tournament winners at the NRG Stadium in Houston.

Paraguay will be hoping to progress beyond the group stage, but that looks a tough task in a section that also contains Brazil and Costa Rica. Below you can find my Colombia vs Paraguay prediction.

James Rodriguez and Luiz Diaz are set to start for Colombia, while Premier League duo Miguel Almiron and Julio Enciso are likely to get the call for Paraguay.

Colombia vs Paraguay Odds

Colombia are as short as 3/5 to make a winning start at the Cope America, while the draw is priced at 12/5 and a Paraguay victory is a 9/2 shot.

In what could be an entertaining clash in Houston, both teams to score is a 6/5 option.

Colombia have won eight straight matches, Los Cafeteros have lost a match since they were beaten by world champions Argentina in a 2022 World Cup qualifier and Nestor Lorenzo’s men warmed up for their Copa America campaign with a thumping 5-1 victory of USA in Maryland.

Lorenzo’s side have cut a seriously impressive team and they have to be taken seriously in terms of title contention.

Colombia got the better of Brazil in a 2026 World Cup qualifier in November and Los Cafeteros also beat European giants Spain in an international friendly clash in March.

Those are seriously impressive results for a team, which is packed with quality.

James Rodríguez offers class and quality in forward areas, there is energy and power in midfield with Jefferson Lerma and Jhon Arias, along with the star quality of Luis Diaz in attack.

Paraguay have won only two of their last nine matches, Los Guaraníes have won only one of their opening six 2026 World Cup qualifying matches and more worryingly they have managed only one goal in those half dozen matches.

Brighton’s Julio Enciso is Paraguay’s new young hope, but the 20-year-old is yet to score in 14 appearances for his national side and it looks a big ask from the inexperienced forward.

At 13/10 Colombia look a fair bet to win to nil.

Luiz Diaz to score two or more goals @ 16/1  

Diaz has the quality to be a star of the tournament and the Liverpool ace looks like a lively bet to score two or more goals in Houston.

The 27-year-old has hit 12 goals in 49 appearances for his national side, but the forward offers far more of a threat than those numbers suggest and Paraguay could struggle to deal with Diaz’s quality and pace.
