Team News

Robins boss Mike Flynn will still be smarting after his side lost 3-2 at MK Dons last weekend despite going two goals up inside 15 minutes through Luke Young and George Miller.

No injury worries are reported since that contest, with Joe Day likely to start in goal behind the likes of Sam Stubbs and Scot Bennett in defence.

Midfielder Young will be hoping to get more chances, while up top Miller should have Joel Colwill just in behind in the preferred 4-2-3-1 lineup.

Tranmere were 2-0 winners at Stockport County last time out in the EFL Trophy, with Kristian Dennis and Josh Hawkes scoring in the first half.

Boss Nigel Adkins will have been relieved to get that win, a second on the bounce.

Striker Dennis was back in the squad after missing most of the previous month. Full-back Lee O'Connor impressed as he, too, was restored to the starting XI and the Irishman will likely keep his spot with the visitors reporting no injury concerns.

The home side are just about edging favouritism at 11/8 despite managing only one home success from their last five in the league.

Tranmere are 7/4 to make it two wins in three on the road in League 2, while the draw is priced at 21/10.

Over 2.5 goals is rated an 11/10 chance for this Friday night tussle, with both teams to score priced at 5/6.

Cheltenham Town to win @ 11/8

There was major dejection for Town last weekend as they let slip a two-goal lead at MK Dons, but the home side have improved rapidly after a slow start and could be top-three contenders in the spring.

Previously to that, the Robins were on a seven-game unbeaten streak that included cup wins against League One sides Rotherham and Reading.

The home side have netted in all bar one of their last 17 fixtures and carry plenty of goal threats, including Ethan Archer, who has got three in his last four.

Despite languishing in the bottom half, Cheltenham's threat in the final third may take this contest away from the visitors from Merseyside.

Tranmere's 14 league games have witnessed only 10 goals from Adkins' side and that is a worry. Just creeping into double figures, they are comfortably the lowest scorers in the division.

Luke Young first goalscorer @ 14/1

Midfielder Young opened the scoring for Cheltenham at Stadium MK last Saturday, firing home from outside the area after Town had worked a set-play out to him.

Young isn't afraid to try his luck from distance and, as that set-piece routine showed, his team-mates are eager to get him into position to try his luck.

He is a decent goal threat, bagging 12 in a National League campaign with Wrexham a few years ago and could strike again.
