Chelsea stamford bridge

Chelsea are going through a bit of a rough patch in the Premier League and they are currently winless in their last five matches. They will look to get back to winning ways on Monday (20:00, Sky Sports Main Event) when they host struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The visitors have suffered consecutive 3-0 defeats against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest ahead of this clash in west London. Read on for my Chelsea vs Wolves bet builder tips, which pay out at 9/1.

Chelsea vs Wolves Odds

Chelsea to win

The Blues have seen their title credentials take a huge hit in recent weeks but they are still in a strong position to finish in the top four and return to Europe's grandest stage, the Uefa Champions League.

An unlikely hero in Reece James salvaged Chelsea a point at home to Bournemouth in midweek, despite the Blues' dominance throughout the game. There were a lot of positives to take into Monday, but there will be an emphasis on the attackers burying their chances.

They registered 26 efforts on goal against the Cherries and only 10 found the target. Boss Enzo Maresca will still fancy his side to get back on track against Wolves, though, as the visitors have the joint-worst defensive record in the division with 48 goals conceded.

Wolves face Chelsea on this occasion with a different man in the dugout. Vitor Pereira leads the Old Gold at Stamford Bridge, looking to inspire a better result than the 6-2 defeat at Molineux overseen by his predecessor Gary O'Neil.

The Blues haven't been as free-scoring since early December so I don't think there will be as many goals as there were in this fixture back in August, but I do think the result will be the same.

Both teams to score

Despite being defensively poor, Wolves have shown throughout the campaign that they do have quality going forward. Their 31 goals scored is the best of the current clubs in the bottom five, and it is only bettered by Brentford (40) and Tottenham Hotspur (43) in the second half of the table.

Brazilian attacker Matheus Cunha has been their brightest spark, scoring 10 of that haul, and he heads into Monday with three goals in his last five Premier League appearances. The Wolves forward was also on the scoresheet when these two sides met back in August, so he will be one player in particular Chelsea need to be concerned about.

Both teams to score has been a winning selection in three of Chelsea's last four outings in the top flight, and their defence has looked troubled in recent weeks.

Cole Palmer anytime goalscorer

Chelsea's star man, Cole Palmer, has been getting into his groove of late. He has been one of the form players in the division over the past month, netting seven goals in his previous nine Premier League matches.

The former Manchester City man has scored in the last two games against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, so I fancy him to extend his streak with a goal against Wolves. Palmer scored against them at Molineux back in August, and he will be eager to face a defence that have shipped 48 goals already.

Football Odds

Nicolas Jackson 2+ shots on target

A player who will be eager to get back on the scoresheet on Monday is Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, who has blanked in each of the last five league games in which his side have failed to win.

The Senegalese forward has some of the best movement in the Premier League in my opinion, so he is never short of opportunities. My faith is with Palmer to score against Wolves, but I do think Jackson will have his fair share of opportunities too.

He has recorded 57 shots so far this season and 28 have hit the target (average of 1.6 per 90). Jackson was very busy against Bournemouth with three efforts hitting the target, so I think backing him two have two more on Monday offers value.

Santiago Bueno 2+ fouls

This bet builder is rounded off with two fouls from Wolves defender Santiao Bueno. He is part of a backline that conceded a lot of goals and an abundance of chances, so he constantly facing a lot of pressure against attacking players.

He is going to have his work cut out for him against the likes of Jackson and Palmer, so I think we will see him drawn into a couple of fouls. Bueno has been penalised 20 times in 14 league appearances this season (average of 1.2 per 90), and he committed three offences against Newcastle last time out, so I think we could see him get into more trouble at Stamford Bridge.
