Chelsea are back again. Their fans probably wish the international break would continue indefinitely given the performances they’ve put in so far during this Premier League season, but there was a glimmer of hope before the break. Mauricio Pochettino’s men made it to the FA Cup semi-finals with a win over Leicester City, and they are scoring plenty of goals.

Next up for them is a winnable home game against relegation-threatened Burnley, who have leaked goals all season. Here is my Chelsea vs Burnley prediction.

Chelsea vs Burnley Tips

  • Chelsea to win and over 3.5 goals @ 8/5
  • Cole Palmer to score anytime @ EVS

Team News

Cole Palmer didn’t get any minutes for England after picking up a slight issue, but it isn’t expected to keep him out here. The same can be said for Malo Gusto, although Romeo Lavia will now miss the rest of the season.

Reece James is still absent, while Christopher Nkunku and Levi Colwill are both doubtful as they try and recover from their injuries, while Enzo Fernandez and Djordje Petrovic should be back in the side having missed the FA Cup win over Leicester.

For Burnley, David Datro Fofana cannot play against his parent club, with Lyle Foster likely to come in for him up front. Nathan Redmond and Aaron Ramsey are still out, but the big decision for Vincent Kompany will come in goal, as he must decide whether to stick with Arijanet Muric, or reinstate James Trafford.

Match Odds

Obviously, Chelsea are the clear favourites here, priced at 2/7 to take all three points. That gives them a win probability of 77%, while Burnley are a big price, at 17/2. A draw can be backed at 9/2, BTTS is 4/5, and over 2.5 goals is 4/9.

Chelsea to win and over 3.5 goals @ 8/5

Chelsea have been scoring a lot of goals of late and their form has picked up over the last month or so. Since that 4-2 hammering at home to Wolves on February 2, they’ve only lost one game - the EFL Cup final to Liverpool. In that time, they’ve held Man City to a 1-1 draw, and scored three goals on four separate occasions.

The FA Cup has provided a welcome boost to their season, and it’s helped them find some confidence on home soil. They’ve scored 10 goals in their last three games at Stamford Bridge and I expect them to be able to tear apart a defence that has already conceded 63 goals this term.

Cole Palmer to score anytime @ EVS

If we expect Chelsea to score a fair few goals in this game, it makes perfect sense to pick out their main man as the goalscorer. Palmer was unlucky to miss out on England minutes, but given he should return here, the price of EVS is worth backing.

He’s fresh, on penalties and has already scored 14 goals this season. Against a Burnley team that hasn’t kept a clean sheet since before Christmas, Palmer can find the net.
