Chelsea vs Bournemouth

Chelsea welcome AFC Bournemouth to Stamford Bridge for the final match of the Premier League season on Sunday (16:00). The Blues have had another disappointing campaign but they have been looking good in the final weeks, suggesting they could be much more competitive next year. They head into the final day sat in sixth and they have a shot at finishing fifth if they win and Tottenham Hotspur lose to Sheffield United, which would secure them Europa League football.

However, they will also have a shot at entering the second tier of European competition if they finish sixth and Manchester City win the FA Cup. Read on for my Chelsea vs Bournemouth predictions, including match odds and team news.

Chelsea vs Bournemouth Betting Tips

  • #PickYourPunt - Cole Palmer anytime goalscorer and Malo Gusto 1+ assists @ 9/2

Chelsea vs Bournemouth Odds

Chelsea are 4/9 to come away with the win here, giving them an implied probability of 69.2%. Bournemouth are priced at 5/1, which gives them a 16.7% chance of victory. The draw can be backed at 4/1 (20%).

Both teams to score is marketed at 2/5 and over 2.5 goals is 2/7.

Team News

Chelsea defender Reece James is suspended for this clash after picking up his second red card of the campaign against Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday night. He will also miss the first three matches of next term as a result. Mykhailo Mudryk went off in that game with concussion and he is not going to be available for selection on Sunday.

He joins Wesley Fofana, Enzo Fernandez, Carney Chukwuemeka, Robert Sanchez and Romeo Lavia in the treatment room.

Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez returns from a three-game suspension of his own and will likely go straight back into the starting XI. Midfielder Tyler Adams is set to be available after having endured an injury-ravaged season.

Chelsea/Chelsea - Half-time/full-time @ 11/10

There is not much value in backing Chelsea to win so I have sought value in the half-time/full-time market. The Blues are on a four-game winning streak which is their best run of the season, and I fancy them to end the campaign with a fifth consecutive victory.

They have been in fine form in recent weeks and have had no shortage of goals thanks to the likes of Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson. They welcome a Bournemouth side that have gone through phases in form this year, and the Cherries have lost their last two.

I'm confident that Chelsea can come away from this match having won both halves because of the firepower they have at their disposal, and with the incentive of giving themselves their best shot of gaining a place in the Europa League. They are playing with confidence and are a force to be reckoned with right now.

Ending the season with a five-game winning streak will set them up nicely heading into the off-season, and will help them prepare for higher expectations next term.

Chelsea/Chelsea at 11/10

#PickYourPunt - Cole Palmer anytime goalscorer and Malo Gusto 1+ assists @ 9/2

Two players that can play starring roles for Chelsea in this final match are their top goalscorer Palmer and full-back Malo Gusto. It's pretty simple with Palmer because it seems as though everything he has touched this year has turned to gold.

He has found the back of the net 22 times in the Premier League this year and he was on the scoresheet in Chelsea's win over Brighton in midweek. He heads into this game full of confidence and I'm sure he has at least one more goal in his locker to wrap up an incredible debut season in west London.

While he has not always been assured of a starting spot in Chelsea's side, right-back Gusto has made 26 appearances in the top-flight and has been able to provide six assists for his teammates in the process. After seeing his left-sided opposite Marc Cucurella tee up Palmer in Brighton, I think Chelsea's other full-back can have an impact in the final third at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Gusto is not shy to get forward and aid the attackers or to take on his marker in a one-on-one. The Frenchman can count himself unlucky to have not been called up for France's Euro 2024 squad because he certainly has the ability to make the step up to the international stage. I think he will treat the Bournemouth clash as a chance to shoe Les Bleus' boss Didier Deschamps just what he's missing, and I can see him claiming his seventh assist of the season.
