There’s a huge match coming up in the battle to stay in the Championship on Wednesday night as Oxford United host Blackburn Rovers (19:45 GMT, Sky Sports+).

Team News
After such a good performance on Friday night at Preston, and with a decent rest inbetween the games, Matt Bloomfield is likely to name an unchanged XI - although Brodie Spencer and Jack Currie are set to tussle it out at left-back.
Ciaron Brown and Michael Helik both scored from centre-back and will keep their places, while Will Lankshear should edge out Mark Harris again after his goal.
Blackburn could bring Andri Gudjohnsen back into the starting XI for this one, as Michael O’Neill looks to secure a vital away win.
Hayden Carter had been a doubt for the Portsmouth game but came through unscatched, and even scored that crucial late equaliser. Sondre Tronstad has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Oxford vs Blackburn Predicted Lineups
- Oxford - Cumming; Long, Helik, Brown, Currie; Konak, Brannagan; Mills, Donley, Peart-Harris; Lankshear
- Blackburn - Toth; Carter, McLoughlin, Cashin; Alebiosu, Forshaw, Gardner-Hickman, Ribeiro; Morishita, Ohashi; Jorgensen
Oxford are 13/8 to win this game, with Blackburn also priced at 13/8. A draw is priced at 11/5, over 2.5 goals is 6/5 and BTTS is 10/11.
Gudjohnsen is the favourite to score first for the visitors at 11/2, with Mark Harris the same price for the hosts.
Oxford vs Blackburn Stats
- Oxford have won their last two
- Four of the last five Oxford goals have come from set pieces
Oxford to win @ 13/8
The most obvious selection in my opinion is usually the right one. Oxford have been able to put together a string of impressive performances, and now they are just one point from safety in the EFL Championship, with a real chance of staying up.
Bloomfield’s arrival has rejuvenated the side, and they took great belief from two draws away at Coventry and Middlesbrough - two teams that could be in the Premier League next season. In the last two outings they’ve recorded back-to-back wins, and they were superb in the 3-1 success at Preston on Friday.
They are really combative and competitive right now, and I think that might just be enough to beat a Blackburn side that have failed to win their last three.

Michal Helik to score anytime @ 15/2
Set pieces are the bread and butter of this Oxford side, and they caused havoc with them again against Preston with one long throw and one set piece leading to two of their three goals. We saw the same vs West Brom as they scored two set-piece goals, and clearly the physical units at the back are difficult to stop and go forward at every opportunity.
One of those is Michal Helik, the big centre-back who found the net last time out. Given he’s going to get a few opportunities to venture into the opposition’s box - I think he’s a massive price to score anytime.
