Norwich City vs Southampton Prediction: Red-hot Saints can continue their march

Southampton made a slow start to the Championship season as they adjusted to relegation from the Premier League, but they head to Norwich for Saturday’s showdown (12:30, live on Sky Sports Main Event) as the division’s form side.

Team News

Norwich continue to be held back by injuries and they remain without forwards Papa Amadou Diallo and Ante Crnac.

Jose Cordoba, Gabriel Forsyth, Liam Gibbs, Lucien Mahovo and Mirko Topic are also missing for the Canaries, who are looking to build on midweek’s 1-1 draw at Sheffield United.

Southampton are still unable to call upon the services of the injury-ravaged Ross Stewart, while Shea Charles, Samuel Edozie and Elias Jelert are also on the sidelines.

Norwich vs Southampton Odds

Southampton are 1/1 to maintain their excellent run of form and make it three away wins in four at Carrow Road.

Norwich, having won only once in 16 league outings since the end of August, are 12/5 for a much-needed success, with the draw available to back at 11/4.

Both teams have scored in the Canaries’ last seven league matches and that is 8/15, with over 3.5 goals a 6/4 chance - a bet that has landed in five of Southampton’s last six second-tier fixtures.

Southampton to win & both teams to score @ 23/10

Since sacking Will Still as manager in November and putting Tonda Eckert in charge, Saints have won six of their seven league matches and they must be full of hope for the trip to Carrow Road.

Norwich have picked up just four points in nine home league games, to leave them five points adrift of safety, so the Saints would be far from the ideal opponents.

Southampton can maintain their purple patch, but they are unlikely to keep the Canaries at bay, with Philippe Clement's side putting in some improved performances of late.

Norwich were valiant in 1-1 draw at Bramall Lane on Tuesday and that means that both teams have scored in eight of their last nine league outings.

Saints, meanwhile, conceded twice in a 3-2 win over West Brom in midweek and have recorded only one shutout in their last 10 outings, so may have to rely on their firepower to shine through.

Adam Armstrong to score first @ 7/2

Southampton striker Adam Armstrong currently sits at the top of the Championship scoring charts with 11 goals in 20 appearances and seven of that total have come since Eckert took over the reins.

Armstrong has hit back-to-back braces in wins over Birmingham and Southampton and he could land the first blow against Norwich, a side he has netted four times against in eight previous Championship meetings.
