Union SG vs Newcastle Prediction: Magpies to land an impressive win

Union Saint-Gilloise got off to a flying start in the league phase of the Uefa Champions League two weeks ago as they stunned PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands. The Belgian side now get the taste of their first home game, with Newcastle United their visitors on Wednesday (17:45 BST, TNT Sports 2).
Below you will find my Union SG vs Newcastle predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Mohammed Fuseini is missing for the hosts with an ankle issue, while Raul Florucz is suspended and unavailable for selection.
Striker Promise David has been in excellent form this season, scoring five times in nine appearances, and he is set to be aided in attack by Kevin Rodriguez and Ousseynou Niang.
There have been some concerns regarding Rodriguez's fitness, with the 25-year-old carrying a knock, but he is set to be declared fit to feature against Newcastle.
Newcastle full-back Tino Livramento was forced off at the weekend against Arsenal in the Premier League, and he is set to miss out on the trip to Belgium after an awkward landing against the Gunners.
Jacob Ramsey (ankle) and Yoane Wissa (knee) remain absent for the Magpies. Defender Fabian Schar has missed the last three matches with a head injury, and it remains to be seen if he will be back in the squad on Wednesday. Lewis Hall is expected to return to the squad here after missing out at the weekend.
Boss Eddie Howe may only opt to make a couple of changes to the side that played at the weekend, so we may see Kieran Trippier and Anthony Elanga come into the XI.
Union SG vs Newcastle Predicted Line-ups
- Union SG - Scherpen; Khalaili, Mac Allister, Burgess, Leysen; Ait El Hadj, Zorgane, Rasmussen; Rodriguez, David, Niang
- Newcastle - Pope; Trippier, Thiaw, Botman, Burn; Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton; Elanga, Woltemade, Gordon
Union SG have won their previous four home games in all competitions and they are 5/2 (implied probability of 28.6%) to come out on top here.
Newcastle's three away games this season have all been draws, which is marketed at 13/5. They were all goalless, and the 0-0 scoreline is priced at 11/1.
The Magpies are 11/10 to come away with the three points, with two victories from their past five outings in all competitions.
Union SG vs Newcastle Stats
- Newcastle are winless in their last five UCL matches
- BTTS has struck in three of the visitors' past four competitive games
Newcastle to win @ 11/10
Newcastle have not started the season as well as they would have liked but it seems as though they are struggling to adapt to life without Alexander Isak. A world-class player in your team can make all the difference and his departure has made goals hard to come by for the Magpies.
They have managed just four in six Premier League matches this term but they are still waiting for their new forward, Wissa, to make his debut for the club.
Record signing Nick Woltemade is currently having to shoulder the goal burden on his own but he has two goals in three league games so far.
Newcastle need to improve because they have just two wins from eight matches across all competitions. This will be a tough away test for them, especially after the way Union SG took down PSV away from home a fortnight ago.
The Belgian outfit cannot be underestimated, but this is the kind of game in which Newcastle can go out and make a statement. They may have lost Isak but they still have a lot of talented players and a good squad depth, which should serve them well in this contest.
I don't think it will be easy by any means but I believe their defensive organisation can help put an important three points on the board.

Both teams to score @ 4/6
I do think Newcastle will concede, however. Union SG made a statement at PSV by scoring three in Eindhoven and now that they are on home turf, they should have no issues with finding the net.
Both teams to score has been a winning selection in two of their previous three competitive fixtures and I think this trend will continue against Newcastle.
For the Magpies, there have been goals at both ends in three of their last four outings in all competitions, so I think BTTS is a selection worth backing on Wednesday evening.
