PSG vs Newcastle Prediction: High-scoring affair at Parc des Princes

Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United meet at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday (20:00 GMT, TNT Sports 3) as both look to secure an advanced ticket straight to the last 16 of the Uefa Champions League.
Both teams are locked on 13 points, and goal difference is the only thing keeping them in the top eight heading into the final round of fixtures. Below you will find my PSG vs Newcastle predictions, featuring the latest match odds and team news.
PSG vs Newcastle Betting Tips

Team News
Joao Neves (muscle), Lee Kang-in (thigh), Fabian Ruiz (knee) and Matvey Sofanov (hand) are all expected to miss out on this match for PSG through injury.
Quentin Ndjantou Mbitcha (hamstring) and Nuno Mendes (knock) are also considered doubts for this clash.
Boss Luis Enrique must decide whether to return Achraf Hakimi, who has recently returned from the Africa Cup of Nations, to the fold.
Newcastle have several injury concerns of their own in the form of Tino Livramento, Jacob Murphy (both hamstring), Fabian Schar, Bruno Guimaraes (both ankle) and Jamaal Lascelles (muscle).
Joelinton was brought off early in the second half of the Magpies' Premier League defeat against Aston Villa, and his participation on Wednesday looks in doubt.
PSG vs Newcastle Predicted Lineups
- PSG: Chevalier; Zaire-Emery, Marquinhos, Pacho, Hernandez; Mayulu, Vitinha, Mbaye; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia
- Newcastle: Pope; Trippier, Burn, Botman, Hall; Miley, Tonali, Joelinton; Barnes, Wissa, Gordon
PSG are the 1/2 favourites to come out on top here, having won two of their three home clashes in the Champions League so far.
Both teams have experienced a draw apiece in the league phase, and the stalemate is priced at 7/2 (implied probability of 22.2%).
Newcastle are 5/1 to upset the defending champions but they have just one win in three away trips in Europe this term.
Anthony Gordon has struck six goals in Europe for the Magpies and he is 3/1 to score anytime.
PSG vs Newcastle Stats
- BTTS - Yes & Over 3.5 Goals has landed in 2 of PSG's UCL matches
- Anthony Gordon (NEW) has 6 goals in the Champions League this term
Both Teams To Score & Over/Under 3.5 Goals - Yes & Over @ 8/5
Results-wise, there is nothing to separate the two teams coming into this crunch clash and so I think the smart play here would be to look for goals. Both clubs have had brilliant league phase campaigns so far and they have both had no issues with finding the net.
PSG have bagged 20 goals in seven appearances while Newcastle have 16. Given the attacking quality they both possess, I think there could be a flurry of goals on offer in Paris.
I like the look of BTTS - Yes and Over 3.5 Goals, which has landed in two of PSG's seven fixtures so far, as well as in one of Newcastle's, which came on their last away trip against Bayer Leverkusen.
This has also been a winning selection in four of the Magpies' previous 10 appearances in all competitions heading into Wednesday.
Given the resources that both teams have, I think we could be treated to a spectacle at the Parc des Princes, especially given what's at stake. Both teams will likely see attack as the best form of defence.

Anytime Goalscorer - Anthony Gordon @ 3/1
Things have not been panning out for Newcastle wide man Gordon in the Premier League in the past 18 months. After a red-hot 2023/24 campaign in which he bagged 11 goals for the Magpies, his output has been going down since.
The England international is currently without a goal from open play in the Premier League in over a year, something which appears to be eating away at the former Everton man.
However, Gordon has found solace in the Champions League this season, where he has delivered his best form. His six goals in seven games is only bettered by Bayern Munich's Harry Kane (seven) and Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe (11) this season, so he is keeping in very good company.
The Newcastle winger has struck in the last two UCL matches heading into Wednesday and I think his 3/1 price offers good value for him to add to his impressive tally.
