PSG vs Liverpool Prediction: Les Parisiens to profit against wounded Reds

Uefa Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain have the honour of hosting the first leg of their quarter-final tie against Liverpool on Wednesday at Parc des Princes (20:00 BST, TNT Sports 1). PSG cruised their way past Chelsea in the previous round, so they should fancy themselves to take down another English side.

Team News

PSG are missing Bradley Barcola (ankle), Fabian Ruiz (knee) and Quentin Ndjantou Mbitcha (hamstring) due to injury. Senny Mayulu is also a doubt with a calf issue.

Ousmane Dembele heads into this clash off the back of scoring a brace against Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Friday. The attacker is set to continue through the middle for Les Parisiens.

Alexander Isak (ankle), Wataru Endo (foot), Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni (both knee) and Alisson Becker (unspecified) are all expected to miss Liverpool's trip to Paris through injury.

Following a heavy 4-0 defeat at Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday, Arne Slot may consider a fresh approach for his team selection on Tuesday. Jeremie Frimpong, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo could be restored to the XI.

Given the manner of which Liverpool lost their FA Cup quarter-final at Man City, it is hard to see them delivering an instant response at the home of the current European champions. PSG haven't consistently been at their free-flowing best in the Champions League this campaign, but there were impressive signs in the round of 16 against Chelsea.

On home soil they have a chance to put one foot into the semi-finals. Liverpool have had a lot of performance issues this season, and the latest was one of their worst displays to date. It looked like a team that had lost its way and this will be music to the ears of PSG. The Reds have now lost two games on the bounce in all competitions.

With the attacking resources Les Parisiens have, they can wreak havoc on Liverpool's vulnerable back line, so I can't see anything other than a home win on Wednesday.

To Score In Both Halves - PSG @ 23/20

PSG have to be ruthless against this struggling Liverpool side if they want to wrap this tie up in the first leg. Given their attacking numbers over the past two years, I think they are more than capable.

There is value to be had in backing the French giants to score in both halves, which they have managed in each of their previous four outings in all competitions. Additionally, Liverpool have conceded in both halves in their two-most recent defeats against Man City and Brighton & Hove Albion.

At 23/20 (implied probability of 46.5%), I think this price is too good to ignore.
